The problem with helping Chinese earthquake victims

Why? Anyone that wishes to help them should be allowed to do so. No one should be compelled to.

Exactly, but if you feel you should, you should act on it. That's all I'm saying.

Actually, China's response to this disaster is what I find most heartening. Not only has the government responded well but there has also been a lot of Chinese volunteers providing aid and the government isn't playing it down at all as they probably would have not so long ago (if they had even allowed it). Nationalism doesn't equate to national unity. It's interesting to see China showing some real unity and maturity between its government and its people.
