Many don't know, but the original "Crazy Horse" Bronco was owned and driven by Don Barlow of Fillmore, CA. If you look at the sponsors on the door notice some are local oilfield companies.
It changed many times from its original beginnings. In the end, the chassis was lengthened 7 inches in the rear and 14 inches in the front.
The engine was a 351 Cleveland, and back in the early 1980's it was mind-blowing fast for an off-road racer. The truck was co-driven by others and then Don would drive the last part of the race where he drove it in 4 wheel drive. The logic was to run it in 2-wheel drive first with less chance of breaking till Don took over. I rode in that truck while testing in Parker, AZ, prior to a 400 race. At 140mph it was crazy.
