at this time is that Minnesota has a Democrat Governor who appoints a temporary replacement. End of story.

Of course Al Franken tried to bring Trump into the conversation and at the same time castigated Roy Moore over his accusers.

Al Franken is a little man and a creep. An absolute perverted cokehead.

I don't think he deserved the right to postulate on the floor of the Senate.

He would appoint a temp only until 2018, when a special election is going to be held for that seat.

And then, the person elected in 2018 would only be there long enough to finish out Franken's term.

Yeah, sure. Franken was tired of all the perks of being a Senator. Yeah, that's it.

If Minnesota had a GOP Governor Franken would still be in the senate. Most likely would have retired at the end of his present term. Perks have nothing to do with this.

Al Frankengroper is a dumb liberal crackpot who loathes about 75% of Americans and Minnesotans should feel ashamed for ever electing him in the first place.

Hearing Franken spin his little resignation speech has been the only time he has made me laugh.

If the Minnesota governor really wanted to mess with peoples heads. He would appoint Al Franken to replace departing senator Al Franken.

And ? The people elected a Democrat , don’t you think his replacement should have similar politics ?

Watch out when democrats throw one of their own liberals under the bus, everything is political and they have a dirty trick up their sleeves. Democrats wouldn't lose a seat as long as Minn. has a democrat governor and as a matter of fact if rumors are true the Gov. will appoint a senator who is even further to the crazy left than Franken. Another issue is that Franken didn't actually resign, he promised to resign in a couple of weeks but what do promises mean to politicians.

He is guilty...so is Conyers....so is Moore...hopefully alot more go down as well as these abnormal urges are not needed. This is the beginning of the domino fall.

you are missing the point. Franken would still be in the senate if Minnesota had a Republican Governor. No way would the dems allow a GOP Governor to appoint a temporary replacement.

The only reason he "announced" his retirement is because of Moore. Democrats would be paralyzed by going after Moore while keeping Franken on board.

If you are honest with yourself, do you really believe there would have any announcement if there was no Moore in the picture? The Democrats would have circled the wagon like they did with Clinton and every other Democrat politician that ran into similar trouble.

Just because he announced he was quitting doesn't mean he will. He didn't resign immediately, he said the next couple of weeks. Gee, now what's going to happen in the next week? That's right, the Alabama election

I won't believe he's dropping out until he does.

So you are saying scum party first GOP gov would’ve nominated a republican to replace him ?

Again, the temporary replacement will only hold Franken's seat until a special election can be held in 2018. And, the person elected in that special election will only hold the seat for the remainder of Franken's term, and then run again if they want to stay.

No, there is no guarantee that senate seat will remain Democrat. It will only remain Democrat until the election in 2018, and then, the voters decide.
