No, he will be remembered as the first black POTUS who failed; not in completing some of his 'transformations', but failed in keeping America's 'chin up' during hard times. But instead, provided a snarky, dividing dialog which turned Americans off. While Obama has done the heavy lifting, the demise of the Republican party was a contributing factor relative to the rise of the Trump. The way the Republicans 'sold out' to Obama was sickening. Senator Snow's vote was the shot heard around the world. Well, the Republican world.

Donald Trump is a byproduct of the bungled Obama 8 year term.

It could pretty easily argued that Bush's presidency begat Obama, and Obama's presidency begat Trump.
