The New York Times: America Sucks

...

But when it ventured into a larger discussion of evil, the moral confusion and contempt for America that characterize leftism were on display.

The article contains a breathtaking paragraph that exemplifies both qualities. After noting that atrocities against groups of people are often the result of the dehumanization of the victimized group, the writer gives four such examples:

“The Hutus in Rwanda called the Tutsis cockroaches, the Nazis depicted the Jews as rats. Japanese invaders referred to their Chinese victims during the Nanjing massacre as ‘chancorro,’ or ‘subhuman.’ American soldiers fought barbarian ‘Huns’ in World War I and godless ‘gooks’ in Vietnam.”

This paragraph is noteworthy for its use of false moral equivalence to justify its anti-Americanism.

...

Lumping America’s actions in those two wars with the other three examples is typical of the left’s defamation of America and of its facile use of false moral equivalence.

But that is how a generation of Americans who have attended college — including most likely the Times author herself — have been taught to think. And that is what is taught to your child today at the left’s seminaries, our universities:

Nazis, Hutu murderers, Japanese rapists, Americans at war: All pretty much the same.

Fake News: New York Times Under Fire for Faking Quote by Trump's Israel Ambassador

President-elect Donald J. Trump picked David Friedman as his ambassador to Israel. Friedman, unlike so many previous ambassadors, likes Israel and doesn't like Islamic terrorists. So the New York Times decided to let him have it with four hit pieces in one day.

There were all the usual smears and calumnies. David Friedman is a "hard-liner", he's "right-wing" and he endangers the non-existent "peace process." But there was a major problem with one of the attacks by Matthew Rosenberg.

...

Why can't the New York Times just tell the truth instead of putting out fake news?

The New York Times’ Cynical Exploitation of Anti-Semitism
Crocodile tears when a leftist agenda is served.

...

During Obama’s tenure, college campuses across the United States experienced an explosion of anti-Semitic acts. These incidents have been well documented by watchdog groups like the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the Amcha Initiative. According to Amcha, anti-Semitic incidents are nine times more likely to occur at the universities or colleges that host groups like the Muslim Student Association and Students for Justice in Palestine or similar Muslim Brotherhood front groups.

These acts of overt Jew-hatred have manifested in various forms and have included intimidation tactics, verbal abuse, graffiti scrawls, denial of free speech or the right to peaceably assemble and increasingly, physical assaults. Often, school officials are completely indifferent to the plight of Jewish students or worse, complicit in anti-Jewish or anti-Israel incidents. In many instances, campus police have been told to stand down in the face of rowdy anti-Jewish protest, laced with anti-Semitic vitriol.

The situation for Jewish students on many college campuses has become so intolerable that some watchdog groups have invoked Title VI of the Civil Rights Act in a desperate bid to combat Islamist driven Jew-hate. Yet during its two terms of office, the Obama administration did virtually nothing to combat this malevolency. Moreover, the rise of anti-Semitic incidents on college campuses received scant coverage from radical leftist outlets like the New York Times. Obama’s inaction on the matter was effectively immune to challenge.

The New York Times has now suddenly taken a keen interest in anti-Semitism when it ignored the problem of Muslim driven Judeophobia for eight long years. The salient question is why? The answer is quite obvious and has more to do with the advancement of a pernicious radical leftist agenda than legitimate concern for Jews.

Leftist media outlets including The New York Times have run a relentless campaign of vilification against the Trump administration. These media outlets have partnered with various leftist political elements and radical groups in their bid to delegitimize the office of the presidency and call into question the outcome of the 2016 election. They cannot bring themselves to accept the results and have therefore embarked on an unholy crusade of sorts.

...

It is incumbent upon the Jewish Americans to forcefully voice objection to such cynical exploitation. They must not permit themselves to be used as mere pawns of the alt-left. This is a group that at best, ignored the scourge of anti-Semitism for the past eight years and at worst, stoked its flames. The tears that they shed today are akin to crocodile tears.

Nutters hate the truth very much. Much of what America has done sucks. We ought to won it.

Equating America to Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan is not the 'truth' but a big fat lie.

The idea that US troops or their French and British allies - who had been fighting the Huns for 3 1/2 years before any Americans fought in France - 'dehumanised' the German soldiers is laughable. My father served in the Royal Army Medical Corps from 1914 to 1918. He (and every other source including those in Germany) said that wounded Germans got exactly the same care in British Casualty Clearing Stations and base hospitals as did British soldiers. Oh - and the Germans treated our wounded well with but a few exceptions.

Say what?

What America did in Vietnam was an atrocity.

More then three million people died as a direct result of American actions.

Alternative reality.

...

Barghouti was the leader of the military wing of the Al-Aqsa Brigades, which between September 2000 – April 2002 carried out thousands of terror attacks against Israel, including suicide bombings. Furthermore, he served as Secretary General of Fatah in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, head of the Tanzim, and the founder of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades – a designated terror organization by the U.S. – which has carried out a large number of deadly terrorist attacks killing scores of Israelis and wounding hundreds. Barghouti received large amounts of funds from different sources both inside and outside Israel to finance terror attacks. Among these sources was the Palestinian Authority and the specific allocations of these funds were authorized by Yassir Arafat. In addition, Barghouti provided weapons and logistical support for many terrorist attacks.

Barghouti was arrested during Operation Defensive Shield on April 14, 2002. In 2004, Barghouti was sentenced to five consecutive life terms and 40 years for the murders of of Greek Orthodox monk Tsibouktsakis Germanus; a shooting spree at the Tel Aviv Seafood restaurant killing Eli Dahan, 53, Yosef Habi, 52, and Salim Barakat, 33, and wounding 31; the killing of Yoela Hen, 45, gunned down at the entrance to the town of Givaat Zeev.

According to the IDF, the following are some of the more heinous terrorist activities which Barghouti is responsible for between the years of 2001 and 2002:

...

The fact that the New York Times sides with repugnant murderers such as Barghouti reveals the moral bankruptcy that pervades the New York Times editorial board; not only did they allow such a person to write an op-ed on their editorial page, but also hid from the public that he is a convicted terrorist.

Only after a public outcry was an editor’s note attached saying that the article “neglected to give sufficient context” for the article.

CELEBRATING COMMUNISM AT THE NEW YORK TIMES
A century after the Bolshevik Revolution, Vivian Gornick is still a fan.
May 3, 2017

Bruce Bawer

...

The New York Times commemorated the Communist holiday in its own way – with an essay by Vivian Gornick, now eighty-one, a card-carrying member of the old New York intellectual crowd and author of a 2011 biography of anarchist heroine Emma Goldman. The piece – entitled “When Communism Inspired Americans” – is the latest example of what has long since become a genre all its own: the fond look back at American Stalinism.

The essay isn't Gornick's first contribution to the genre. Her 1977 book The Romance of American Communism, a collection of interviews with old Party members, was described by Commentary reviewer Marion Magid as an “adoring account” that depicts their perfidy “as a romantic episode in American history.” In the book, Gornick portrayed these old Communists as “the golden children called to Marxism” and claimed that they “feared, hungered, and cared more” than other people and possessed a “wisdom passion alone can purchase.” Noting that most of Gornick's interviewees were Jews, Magid quite rightly challenged the idea that there was any “wisdom” in their “slavish support of the Soviet Union throughout the long period of Stalinist treachery and the calculated destruction of Soviet Jewish life.”

...

How dispiriting that at her advanced age, four decades after writing her reprehensible book, Vivian Gornick hasn't budged the slightest in her view of all this despicable treachery. And how appalling – though hardly surprising – that the New York Times is still willing to give space to this sort of puerile bilge. It goes without saying, of course, that the Gray Lady would never publish a piece that sentimentalized Nazis. But it plainly has no intention of rethinking its decades-long habit of romanticizing people who vehemently denied the Holodomor and defended the Gulag.

New York Times publishes despicable lies to soften its own culpability for left-wing violence
By Thomas Lifson

What's a newspaper to do when it ostentatiously refuses to cut funding for a high-profile play in Central Park depicting an obvious President Trump-themed Julius Caesar being assassinated, and then a left-wing extremist attempts to assassinate a group of GOP congressmen?

198839_5_.jpg

The answer is obvious: lie!

The New York Times editorial today about the attempted assassination yesterday in Alexandria is one of the most despicable acts of the newspaper since its Russia correspondent Walter Duranty actively covered up Stalin's crimes in deliberately starving Ukraine.

In its editorial on the attempted mass murder of Republicans, the Times admits that James Hodgkinson was politically motivated:

A TALE OF TWO TERROR ATTACKS AND THE NEW YORK TIMES
When Israeli casualties don't merit attention.

Originally written for the Investigative Project on Terrorism.

Last month’s suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester wasn’t the first time an Islamist terrorist targeted young people out for a night of fun. In 2001, a Hamas-affiliated terrorist blew himself up outside the Dolphinarium, a Tel Aviv nightclub, killing 21 Israelis, including 16 teenagers.

But news coverage of the two massacres was strikingly different, as the Manchester attack generated exponentially more attention. The New York Times, for example, offered a handful of small accounts about the Tel Aviv attack. But the Manchester bombing generated dozens of wire service and Times staff updates along with analysis stories and an editorial lamenting the horror of targeting children.

There are reasons why attacks in Europe are covered more exhaustively than those targeting Israelis. But as a result, Americans may not fully appreciate the depth of Palestinian violence because the near-daily examples of it are all but ignored.

...

At least 1,600 Israelis have been killed in terrorist attacks since the 1993 Oslo accords that were intended to foster Israeli-Palestinian peace. How many more Israeli casualties are needed before the New York Times starts to cover them as it would European victims?

THE NEW YORK TIMES IS A DISASTER

The decline and fall of media standards continues. The New York Times is bringing in the money with Trump fake news that panders to the left. But at the cost of destroying its standards.

Working for the ole gray lady is not a fun job.

...

Class has its privileges.

But the Times is continuing its long march to become an online publication with an old brand. That means getting rid of more and more office personnel. And especially the copy desk. Because who cares about facts or style anymore.

...

Fewer copy editors, but more "investigative journalists" to pump out fake news hit pieces.

Not that it really matters. The Times has a terrible track record of acknowledging its fake news problem. CNN did a better job when the Timesian it hired to go after the Trump-Russia conspiracy theory had to resign. He would have stayed on at the Times.

But all this is telling of the descent of the media. The old standards don't matter much. Infotainment and lefty conspiracy theories are where it's at. And that's where the Times is at.

...

The overall goal is the social media sell. The actual quality doesn't really matter. Welcome to the new media.

THE RED YORK TIMES: FIRST IN FAKE NEWS
A dark history of promoting "alternative facts" to hide communist atrocities.

Newsflash from The New York Times: Women may have starved under socialist regimes, but their orgasms were out of this world!

That's the creepy gist of one of the Grey Lady's recent essays this summer hailing the "Red Century." The paper's ongoing series explores "the history and legacy of Communism, 100 years after the Russian Revolution." When its essayists aren't busy championing the great sex that oppressed women enjoyed in miserable Eastern Bloc countries, they're extolling Lenin's fantabulous conservationist programs and pimping "Communism for Kids" propaganda.

Since this is back-to-school season, it's the perfect time to teach your children about faux journalism at the Fishwrap of Record. As the publication's pretentious own new slogan asserts, "The truth is more important than ever."

While the Times hyperventilates about the dangers of President Trump's "art of fabrication" and "Russian collusion," this is the same organization whose famed correspondent in Russia, Walter Duranty, won a Pulitzer Prize for spreading fake news denying Joseph Stalin's Ukrainian genocide.

...

Now, 85 years after Stalinist tool Duranty snagged his Pulitzer (which the journalism pooh-bahs refuse to withdraw and the Times' editors refuse to renounce), the paper has the gall to lecture everyone else about truth, lies and accountability. And it's still shilling for collectivism.
