They also won't be collecting the $54B over 8 years (according to the congressional Joint Committee on Taxation) that they figured into helping reduce the cost of things.

So it is now essentially unenforcible? But they can require the person who doesn't have insurance to get it when they go to the doctor or emergency room or hospital? And does the restriction on individual penalities also apply to businesses? None of the small business people I know think it is unenforcible where they are concerned. And now that SCOTUS has declared the mandate to be a TAX, that gives an awful lot of leeway to assess any amount of penalties they wish.

Regardless Thomas Sowell is right. If we ALL are going to be forced to pay for this legislation in one way or another, the idea is absurd that the government, that swallows up substantial percentages of ALL revenues received into its giant bureaucracy, will somehow do it more economically than can the private sector.

Regardless Thomas Sowell is right.
