These are the sane ones, the movers and shakers, members of the GOP intelligentsia, whose voices are calm, cool and collected and probably rarely seen by regular viewers of FoxNews:

Morning Joe

Unless they support less government, more individual freedoms and are fiscal conservatives, they will be wasting their time trying to influence me.

Joe Scarborough is my kind of conservative. I don't agree with him all the time, but at least he's not a nutjob. I can watch him because he's TRULY fair and balanced, not faux. He'll also call out those on his own side when they go overboard. Newt got an earful from him.

You mean like John McCain? Remember when McCain was the Republican that Democrats would vote for?
Hard to believe.
Any Republican who gets Democratic party "respect" needs to be drummed out of the party just on principle.

Joe Scarborough is my kind of conservative. I don't agree with him all the time, but at least he's not a nutjob. I can watch him because he's TRULY fair and balanced, not faux. He'll also call out those on his own side when they go overboard. Newt got an earful from him.

I agree. Morning Joe is the only MSNBC political show I'll turn on.

Scarborough's book "The Last Best Hope" was an excellent read, but not a favorite of the "new" new conservatives of course.

Synopsis
In this groundbreaking book, Joe Scarborough tells Republican Party bosses what they don t want to hear, explains why Democrats are making matters so much worse, and then shows leaders of both parties the way forward.

The Last Best Hope draws on the forgotten genius of conservatism to offer a road map for the movement and the country. Delivering a searing indictment of the political leaders who have led us astray, Scarborough inspires conservatives to reclaim their heritage by drawing upon the strength of the movement s rich history. With independent thinking and straight talk, Scarborough explains:

How Washington and Wall Street conspired to create the housing bubble that caused America s financial meltdown
How the "candidate of change" has not only maintained but accelerated the reckless spending policies that led us to this historic economic collapse
How Washington s bailout culture will cripple America s future if left unchecked
How Barack Obama s stimulus plan devolved into a socialist spending spree that would make FDR and LBJ shudder
And how conservatives need to take a closer look at Ronald Reagan s political career before claiming his great legacy
A fearlessly argued conservative manifesto that brings American conservatism into the twenty-first century, The Last Best Hope is a must-read for all who care about the direction America is heading.

I want to get his book, I like ol' Joe too, he seems to be more in line with the cons of old as opposed to the social/neo movement that now controls the Party and the word "conservative".

You mean like John McCain? Remember when McCain was the Republican that Democrats would vote for?
Hard to believe.
Any Republican who gets Democratic party "respect" needs to be drummed out of the party just on principle.

McCain stopped being an America-First kind of person and instead became a Party-First politician. Now he claims he never was a "maverick." Sure. It's only how he got reelected year after year, but once he had some far right of center competition, McCain reinvented himself once again.

This statement alone shows how completely biased and closed minded you are. Way to support bipartisanship and a meaningful exchange of ideas. Pathetic.

I wonder if he would consider a run for Prez??? Naaah. He's way to smart for that. LOL

Any lawmaker worth his/her salt, and any pol knows damned well that the only thing this country can look forward to is complete gridlock if extremists are allowed to run roughshod. It's time to start genuine discussion on the major issues confronting this country and stop all the daily bellyaching over some mosque at ground zero or the president vacationing in Martha's Vineyard or Ken Mehlman's gayness (the latter receiving THREE TIMES the number of hits as any other subject yesterday).

To say "there are the sane Republicans"
Is equivalent to saying "there are sane democrats"

Bottomline:You are lying! Extremists are not sane!

He also isn't kind to the spending policies of this administration, but is always careful to respect the President. In other words, he acts like a grownup conservative. I honestly hope he's not through running for office.

"Bipartisanship" with Democrats is negotiating over just how much they are going to get to screw America. To hell with that.

I think he bailed when 'maverick' became 'mavericky'!

FYI: Darrell Issa wishes to initiate several investigations against the Obama White House should the Republicans gain control of the House after the midterms.

Just wanting to make certain you don't get caught posting something may not fully understand - ie, support of Republican Darrell Issa...:eusa_angel:
