The reason why is because our ECONOMY is based on exponential growth. It only follows that everything related to money is going to grow exponentially as well.

Don't get wrapped up in a pissing contest over who more corrupt than who. The point is that our pols in DC are wasting our money and cheating us right and left. [right and left, get it?] It's not just one side or one administration over another, it's deals made by repubs and dems together to support their constituencies.
