It drives me insane.

She "literally" put her on a tee.

No actually she didn't. She did not pull out a tee of any sorts and put her on it.

Literally is misused by sports broadcasters way too often...

"Literally" was used ironically to enhance a statement's hyberbolic impact on the listener.

This word or phrase became so commonly over-used for hyperbolic purposes that some people forget (or never knew) what the word "literal" literally means.

the most enjoyable TV sporting event for me was when the announcers went on strike during the football season, and the network carrying the game had to do without them. They just showed us the football game, the crowd without one word from an announcer the whole time.


I wish their would be a perpetual announcers strike. They should demand a billion dollars an hour plus 54 weeks of vacation.

Seriously.

Then I could watch professional sports again.
