International alliance divided over Libya command - Yahoo! News

President Barack Obama, speaking in Santiago, Chile on Monday, defended his decision to order U.S. strikes against Libyan military targets, and insisted that the mission is clear.
And like a parade of Pentagon officials the past few days, Obama insisted that the United States' lead military role will be turned over—"in days, not weeks"—to an international command of which the United States will be just one part.
The only problem: None of the countries in the international coalition can yet agree on to whom or how the United States should hand off responsibilities.

Hmmm...Can't figure out how to hand over command to the Europeans?? Here's how: Just leave. Send our ships and planes back to where they were and say, ' Adios amigos !!'

When I was in Somalia Clinton tried turning us over to the UN. Thank God the Senate stopped him.

Looks like Obama doesn't give a flying-F what the Senate thinks.

The last thing this country needs is another war. People wonder why countries like China, India, Russia, and Indonesia, and several EU countries are moving ahead of us in jobs, economic growth, and education.
Could it be that fighting other peoples wars are not part of their agenda. When is last time China or Russia fought someone else's war.

Wow, talk about not having an "exit strategy" we don't even have an "entry strategy".

Obama just decided to start bombing, ASSUME some other country would take charge later, and let the rest fall into place. After all, everyone loves him, so surely nations will be bickering over the honor of who takes over for the US war in Libya, right?

This is just fucking embarrassing. News just said Obama repeated his stance that "While we would like to see Ghaddafi give up power, we are not targeting him." WTF!!!!!!!!!!! WE ARE BOMBING HIS COUNTRY. If we would like to see him gone...........then why not get him gone since we are bombing that country????

Jesus F'in Christ. Whether you are for or against this new war or not..........can we AT LEAST agree that if we ARE going to war, DO IT RIGHT??!!!

So Obama sends us to war in Libya, kind of. But not really. Just bombing, not "war" war. You know, not Bush style war. And we want Ghaddafi gone, but not really, cuz we aren't gonna target him, just the rest of his country.

Just what the holy hell is this moron doing to this country?

China fought against us in Korea. Russia technically fought in the Six Day War, but not through direct troops just equipment given to the Arab nations. The Six Day War was between Israel and the Arab attackers, but the invisible story was US vs Russian equipment, and the US dominance through Israeli deployment.

Anyway, China and Russia commit human rights violations. Thus, they have no interest in stopping others.

I had an old football coach that said "IF you are gonna screw up, then dammit, screw up full speed!!!"

I thought of that coach watching Obama this week. It's almost like he didn't only screw up the play, but then jogged half-assed around trying to chase the ball-carrier after his screw up.

Obama is in pure campaign mode right now. Go to war just enough to satisfy the moderates who are mad at Ghaddafi, but not total war so the left is happy and the anti-war moderates aren't totally turned off to the point that a pretty speech won't win them back.

Absolutely most pathetic leader in this nations history.

I suspect that the administration thought the rebels were a lot stronger than they were. It's a smart move for Obama to continue to claim that removing Ghadafi is not the goal. If the UN allies cave, which they certainly might, Obama can continue to support the no fly zone and hit Gaddafi forces. At some some point Gaddafi will cut a deal. He backs off on Benghazi and the UN lifts the no fly zone. If he's a good boy we release some of his assets. Obama will claim the intervention saved Benghazi.

There is no way Obama will commit ground forces. It would be political suicide.

That was about 50 years ago. Apparently, they learned their lesson, stay out of foreign wars unless it's a serious threat to their national interest, something the US never seems to learn.
