The media has declared IRMA the most severe and destructive hurricane ever

LOL, I guess these libtards are too young to remember Andrew, or Katrina or Sandy.........................

This was a cat 4 at best rapidly changing to a 3 and 2 then 1. As hurricanes go this was as I said MINOR.

That said to simpletons who rebuilt where Andrew destroyed everything, they got what they ask for.

When you say the media has declared this,

is that supposed to mean something?

Are my parents and sister still alive? are their houses still standing? Do they have electricity? All was ok when I last spoke to them both last night....I don't want to call and wake them up in case they were not able to sleep last night when the storm blew thru? they are both north of Tampa near center state but closer to the west coast...horse country. I guess I'll give it till 10 am, then I am going to call them...
I have a sn in green cove springs. His phone is dead. With all the flooding in Jax I fear for him.

Except of course the multiple islands that were razed by the cat 5 storm. Apparently, you're too simple to think beyond Florida.

Sandy was a tropical storm actually. Not even a hurricane. The damage it did was big enough to get a mention by you. My point is that this storm is neither minor nor is the catagory of hurricanes the only parameter of it's destructive power. Furthermore it's incredible that you are here spouting bullshit. While I have family huddling in a senior center atm wondering if they'll have a house to go back to.
Well one thing Sandy did was this.

This happened in the next town to me, the entire town floated away as did the old orchard lighthouse, it was washed away by a 20 foot wave, that sat on top of at least a 20 foot storm surge..

Wait, everyone in Florida ain't dead?
No. Just dying. They're all over 62

I am from Ohio and you are from Michigan, need I say more?
Yes because I love Michigan. What's your point?

I'm sure you think our states are similar but you don't have the lakes and woods. Ohio is just flat. Lol

Michigan is a rusted out shit hole
Not true at all. If you live in metro Detroit or any other city it's a great place to live.

I'm going "up north" this weekend. Driving 4 hours up the only rusted out shit holes are Flint and saginaw.

Let me guess you're a Republican who doesn't like the unions. That's your beef.

The truth is, w/o the Federal government, Michigan would be doing just fine.

The federal government and these globalist regulations on the auto industry have been killing the car and the union since the sixties.

The reason those smaller cities are rusted out shit holes is entirely D.C.'s fault. The elites just wanted to move some folks onto the doll to capture some guaranteed constituents for the Democrats as the nation was moving to the right after the Regan revolution and globalization. It had to do with the destruction of the car, the family and the disintegration of the culture.

The car, like the Bill of Rights, is essential to individual freedom and sovereignty of the American experience. These ruling elites have a vision of America, to turn it into some socialist/communist police state shit hole like the EU. The best way to do that is to keep track of, and control where everyone lives, goes, and what they do. You can't do that if everyone can afford a car. THAT is why Michigan and her glorious cities and Universities have been shit on by D.C.

Screw the Republicans and the Democrats. They both will suck this state dry and throw it away.

Despite onerous federal regulations, the state will persevere.

If it weren't for the ethics of Michigan workers cooperating with Michigan business leaders, the notion of labor rights would not exist for the rest of the nation. Labor needs management, management needs labor, this will always be the case. It is the media that pits them against each other in folks minds. In this state, most of us know that we need each other. Bless the worker, and bless Ford. Which of the big three didn't take a bail out? Was that because of the workers or the management? I'm sure the Oligarchs would love to figure that one out.

Does the 8-hour day and the 40-hour week come from Henry Ford, or labor unions?

Didn't you just make my point? Sandy as a tropical storm did this amount of damage. Now imaging the very next day somebody come and telling you it was a minor storm. And they got what they deserved because they knew this can happen. If you experienced something like that, can you explain how you could be that callous?

Well I believe the rich or corporations have waged class warfare on the working class. And it has gone very well for them. Republicans like to complain about how things are but the fact is if you are a rich republican things are going great. Never better.

I just got a raise. With commissions too it's a minimum of a $32K raise. Probably a lot more once the year is done. So I no longer worry about "the workers". It's every man for himself. And I happen to work harder and I'm better than most workers so I'll do well in this atmosphere. Unfortunately most workers won't.

The other day I got a big raise. I immediately thought about how I for years have argued for collective bargaining. Would I want everyone in the office to come in and share my raise or do I want it all for myself? So I have a whole new way of looking at things.

Politics are personal. I'm a conservative republican now. I may be socially liberal but I vote with my pocketbook.

And why should a high school graduate with no skills be able to go to a Ford job right out of highschool and make as much as most college graduates make? I no longer argue for unions.

And hey, liberals can get mad at me for selling out but there are a lot more of them than there are us rich Americans. Or upper middle class I should say. So if they want to change things they can. They just have to show up and vote. But they are too stupid to do it so things will stay the way they are and now it benefits me. But does it benefit them? Nope. Unions really looked out for the masses. But they fucked the overachievers. Especially when they were so lazy they forced Ford and GM to go overseas. They were so lazy and already had pensions coming to them so they didn't care about the future. Now their kids work at Walmart instead of the big 3.

I'm not even getting cable. At least not yet. I just got a new car so $350 a month car payment. If I get cable make that $450 a month. Then I get a maid $550 a month. There are a million things I could buy but then all of the sudden I'm spending what I make.

I figure I'm going to at least make $32K a year more than I was before I got the raise. Lets say after taxes it's $24K a year clear or $2K a month more. If I get cable I'm already eating up $500 of that $2000. I want to save that money for awhile. As soon as I have accumilated a small fortune maybe then I'll get internet and cable at home. God I'm cheap.

Almost everyone becomes a conservative after they make it. Why would they vote against themselves? They aren't the stupid ones. It's the broke asses that vote with us. I used to hate those people but now I love them. Or the idiots who don't vote because they think it doesn't matter? How fucking stupid are they? Do they realize us rich people vote every 2 years? Clearly we know voting matters and no coincidence that the people who vote more often are doing the best.

I used to hope Democrats would take back the house Senate and White House but no more. Now I hope they lose big in the midterms and Trump gets a second term. Sorry.

But you guys shouldn't need me. There are plenty more of you than there are us. If you got your heads out of your asses and voted you wouldn't need me.

And it's like a rich person trying to convince you to vote Republican. Why would you do that? They don't benefit you at all right? Well you can say the same thing about a rich Republican. Why should they vote Democratic? Should I split my raise with my co-workers? Why? They are just average and I'm above average. Now that I've made it I see unions help the masses and the masses are usually not the best and brightest. A union will help all the workers but the hardest working workers get fucked.
