‘The Mask Came Off’: Glenn Beck Slams Obama’s Trip to Cuba, Says President ‘Believes in Communism’

In a normal world, despots like Castro (Fidel or Raul or even the twins or both are in US Congress) would crawl on their knees to their moral and political superiors.

In this messed up world, the - allegedly - the most powerful person on Earth goes sucking up and crawling to a dictator who, pound for pound is the worst human rights abuser, on par with that North Korean bastard who also got his misbegotten power by inheritance.

Congratulations, President Obama. You have reached a new low in your low career.

Total nonsense

Please elaborate. Preferably with valid counter arguments.

Too funny

Thank you.

Obviously, Raul or Fidel can not put as many people in prison as their idols, Mao or Yossif could, not for lack of effort, but only by the limits of an oppressed population. That was what I meant by "pound for pound".

Obama IS sucking up to that wizened tyrant as shamelessly as no American President ever should. He probably banned photographers to take pictures of him kissing Raul's hand, and bowing to the picture of Fidel.

The US leads the world in incarceration rate

Cuba does have political prisoners but their human rights violations pale in comparison to China or many African nations.
Cuba does well in education and healthcare and its citizens have an admirable life expectancy

It is far from a hell hole

World: Human Rights Risk Index 2014

If the United States leads the world in incarceration, it is because the United States leads the world in crimes.

Per capita, the incarceration rate for POLITICAL reasons is dwarfed by the incarceration for POLITICAL reasons in Cuba.

I grew up in a country very similar to Cuba in terms of size, population, education, health care, freedom, political conscience, wealth, jobs, housing, transportation and any other metrics.

I left that country when I was seventeen, because it was, as present day Cuba, a HELL HOLE.

My old country had its revival. Cuba needs its revival. Obama buddying up with Castro does not help.

Why won't commerce with the US help? Just asking.

If anyone would like to explain to me why Obama going to Cuba is different from Nixon going to China, please feel free. Except Rustic. He's had his chance.

Dude...does well in education and HEALTHCARE??
You know that is not true, and you can post up any statistic you want - you know damn well any statistic coming out of countries like Cuba and China - the governments grossly misrepresent data to the point of insanity.

Ask me again when all Cuban political prisoners are free. Until then ask yourself how commerce will give freedom to innocent people imprisoned for expressing their opinions.

I didn't realize that was your only concern. I was thinking more generally. Excuse me.

Every time Glenn Beck and company open their mouths, it provides fodder for liberals to point and laugh at - and associate with everyone on the right.

Shouldn't he be retired by now?

and? every time Hillary and Bernie screech it provides fodder for Republicans. You just don't know what's going to come out of the two Old Socialist mouth. like freaking wild banshees.

Say what you like about Glen Beck he never wore a mask. With him, his word was always his bond. You know, what you see is what you get.

Those who hate disparage, disrespect or hate Glen Beck do so only because Glen Beck is HONEST.

A totally alien concept to his detractors.
Did he ever release his inside info that would show the Obama Administration was behind the Boston bombings? Beck has zero credibility, it is amazing that people still take him at his word.

How does opening up trade not help?

It helped China develop a middle class

Will Cubans working for an American company be able to keep the salary or wages that the American company pays them?
Or will the Cuban government allow the workers twenty dollars a month?

I see. Then Nixon was a Chinese Communist, right?
Cuba is a nuclear power with a quasi-capitalist communist society of over a billion people? Who knew?
Cuba was a nuclear power for a short time when they facilitated the Soviet nuke threat against the Continental US and brought the world to the brink of annhialation in 1962. You either weren't around to experience that or you were and were too stupid to grasp the magnitude of it. That's the exact same regime Obama is now rewarding.
Only morons support that.

I remember that well! I was a long distance operator. We were having a perfectly normal shift ... and all of a sudden that switchboard lit up like a Christmas tree. We couldn't answer signals fast enough and wondering what the hell was going on ... and all the calls were people screaming to be connected with the White House or some member of Congress. It was a MESS!! Every operator's position was fully loaded, incoming lines were blinking all over the place and going unanswered until someone could release one call only to instantly pick up another one. Somebody must have finally asked a caller what was going on and the word was out - Russian war ships in Cuba. It was a hell of a shift.

As for Obama ... his young life was heavily influenced by both communism (his mother's parents who were his introduction to Frank Marshall) and Islam (via his father being Muslim and into African political anti-colonialism and later by his his mother's marriage to the one in Indonesia and his years there). So what should we expect?
You would appreciate the movie '13 Days' because it includes scenes that precisely depict the switchboard operator incident you described.

Bernie is, for the most part, at least honest. He is what he is and doesn't re-invent himself every week depending on how polls come out...that is Hillary, as for Trump - the man reinvents himself with each conversation.

I've had that movie on back order since January. Finally had a "chat session" with Amazon to ask if release was being held up for political reasons. Of course, the "chat guy" (Jose) had to check that out ... said it might be April or May before release. I think it played in Knoxville one night, maybe two. At least April and May come before November, eh? I want to know what happened at Benghazi!!!! Assination of JFK was another one I won't forget ... by then I was working in DC as a fingerprint technician in the FBI Criminal Division. THAT was some serious stuff then, too.

I think 'James Moore' is that J. Constine guy....the spammer. Inside 45 minutes he's started 11 threads.

Nixon going to China is nothing like Obama going to Cuba and kissing Castro's ass.

You mean other than the part of an American President going to a Communist country that we had refused to do business in order to open up the country to normal relations?

I guess you have a point- Communist Cuba has not killed nearly as many millions of its citizens as Communist China has.....

Really?

I have no love for the Castro's- and they are rather despotic bastards-but we do business with all sorts of countries with horrible human rights records
China- murdered millions of its own citizens-
Of the 197 countries of the world, there are 20, including three territories, considered to be the most societally repressive. Burma, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Libya, North Korea and Sudan are at the top of the global list for countries that are among the worst abusers of human rights. To be deemed an abuser of human rights, civil liberties and political rights are the violations assessed, and these particular countries mentioned above have concurrently been on such lists in the previous years

In Saudi Arabia, political prisoners are held in detention and democracy is silenced by threats of intimidation and arrests, all while women continue to face major oppression. It is said that 2013 was one of the worst years for human rights in Saudi Arabia. Females and the poor are considered to be at the bottom of the totem pole, often denied legal rights and knowingly oppressed by the country’s political entities. Women are not allowed to drive or vote, despite the fact there is no express law making it illegal.

In South Sudan, bloody massacres occurred, claiming the lives of 100,000 refugees. Later, evidence of mass graves and violent attacks on U.N peacekeepers were unearthed. Despite the independence given to South Sudan in 2011, internal conflict in 2013 emerged with abundance, resulting in numerous human rights atrocities and the targeting the poor for extrajudicial killings. Almost 100,000 people have been displaced as a result of the violence

We lead the world in prosecuting crime. Other countries like Mexico don't give a shit if their people are robbed, raped, or murdered.
