The March on washington crowd est.

The Tea Parties are irrelevant. They will not influence the outcome of reform legislation in the slightest. They are fun to watch, they give the opportunity to watch the zoo display.

What's a giggle is the teasters think they are serious. They are going to find out what serious truly can be when BHO stops smiling and tells his folks in Congress, "Pull the trigger".

What trigger is that ?

The final roll call votes that will result in overwhelming margins for health care reform and overwhelming public approval.

The red-faced, whining, hating, pouting minority are just that: the minority. You have a say but no power in this matter.

Oh I wish they would that will certainly be the last straw.

America supports health care reform overwhelmingly. That will not change, and the GOP is going into the minority for a very, very long time, until they figure out how to get the toxic waste of the whacko far-right wing out of the Party.

The Wall Street Journal - the nation's pre-eminent conservative newspaper - said that "tens of thousands" of protesters marched in the streets.

Tens of thousands of demonstrators descended on Capitol Hill Saturday, protesting the expansion of government spending and illustrating the network of conservative activists that has emerged in opposition to President Barack Obama's policies.

Organizers said they believed people from all 50 states came for the "Taxpayer March on Washington." Crowds filled nearly every pocket of open space near the west lawn of the Capitol, many standing and listening without a view of the stage. They marched from Freedom Plaza, adjacent to the White House, as shouts of "U.S.A." echoed through downtown Washington and marchers dressed as colonials banged drums. Some people stayed stranded on Constitution Avenue as the program began near the Capitol, unable to find room to watch the speakers.

A spokesman for D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services estimated the crowd at "in excess of 75,000" people. Local and federal law enforcement authorities don't provide crowd estimates.

Lots of folks here on the right really do not understand "progressivism", "fascism", "socialism", "communism", etc. Either they are ill read, or stupid.

That's a great question.

You bring up an interesting point here.
Problem is, the GOP actively recruited the whackos as you call them for their "Base", starting in Carter's time. They also actively recruited the fundies and participated in the political corruption of certain churches and the serious whackos of the right wing blogoshpere and radio to foster extremism so there would be not only a reliable voting block, but a reliable base of small donors and most important, foot soldiers.
Now to get away from the extremism they have to get away from their base, the beast they themselves created. There's a whole generation out there who's know nothing but the marriage of right wing extremist political ideology with fundamentalist religious dogma, good luck deprogramming that!
But the beast has a taste for blood now, and I'm not sure they won't turn on their masters if they relax their stance on The Cause. I don't envy the GOP's position, but they did in fact bring it on themselves.
That's not to say the majority of Republicans out there are part of the psycho "Base", nor that the Dems haven't employed some similar tactics. But the GOP has created a more dangerous situation for themselves as far as their Base goes, IMO. Good luck with all that!

Right. The RR have just as much of a desire for authoritarian rule as the far left. Yes, the GOP shot itself in the foot when it allowed the RR to get a stranglehold on the party. But, considering the continued success of the Tea Parties, I believe the GOP is finally waking up.

Funny thing is, the Dems have taken over the same tactic of authoritarianism. Same coin, different side.

Both parties need to wake up and realize that America's continued success depends on preservation of those ideals which have made the USA great and valuing them above all, especially party - separation of powers/checks and balances, encouraging honest opposition, etc. Socialization of folks is not required for allegiance of party, only a party's allegiance to American principles is required and the folks will follow.

Yeah, I remember all these teabaggers bitching about Bush's spending run amok. Or how warrentless wiretaps were a threat to liberty. O wait... no, that never happened.

There are no warrantless wiretaps.

And lots of peole expressed opposition to President Bush's profligate spending.

THOSE words could ONLY be spoken by a die hard STATIST...

Wrong AGAIN! Your consistency is impressive. The words can be and were spoken by me (a non Statist) because they are accurate.

Only the woefully and pathetically ignorant and a dishonest person (i.e., a dope like you) would attempt to deny a truthful claim and put a false label on the person who speaks the truth -- as you just did.

You don't even understand the basic meanings of the terms being used. You shine a bright light on your own abject ignorance with each such stupid post of yours. :clap2:

MANY many folks here on the left either don't understand the true meaning of such terms -- or they lie about it for various reasons. They can also be stupid, but their disingenuity is motivated by other concerns.

The last straw? What are you going to do? Continue to vote for Republicans? Yeah, that worked REAL well last election.

Let me tell you that I understand socialism AND communism and that Bush's policies were closer to facism than Obama's policies are to socialism. Please note for all those calling Obama a Hitler. Hitler was a facist... and NOT a communist! Hitler HATED communism!

Only because it was a competing form of authoritarian central control.

Fascism = Centrally planned economies, military dictatorships, social stratification based upon political affiliation, a brutal police state and slave labor/re-education/concentration camps for dissenters and other "undesirables".

Communism = Centrally planned economies, military dictatorships, social stratification based upon political affiliation, a brutal police state and slave labor/re-education/concentration camps for dissenters and other "undesirables".

Ain't it great to have a choice?

To some extent, IMO you have a point here.
However the Dems haven't made the mistake of pairing their own extremist base with the already extreme fundamentalist relgious movement - which makes it more difficult for the GOP to disengage if it chooses (and more likely the extremists will turn on them if they try, since it's not just this life they believe depends on advancing their political agenda).

True. Fundies are easy to recognize, though. What I think pisses most off about fundies is their authoritarian attitude - my way on how individuals must lead their lives must be legislated. It's an infringement on individual choices and freedoms. It's just as distasteful a desire regardless of motivating ideology behind that desire to me.

Just a minor point? I don't belive the participants are of a GOP stripe. From accounts, they were from every walk of life regardless of whatever banner they attest.

But more aptly? These are people who belive in the Constitution, and know that their liberty is threatened by Government and the Statists that infest the Government.

Again? My view, and a minor point.

Any attempt to silence opposition is a tenet of fascism. Ignore the honest opposition to your peril, regardless of your party.

True. But according to Davey S? Bush is closer to fascism? I don't ever recall Bush trying to stifle speech as the Democrats had this summer by sending their "Goon Squads" out. If anyone is closer to Fascism it would be Obama, and the "Democrats" in Congress by their statements.
