The "Lost" Palin Files

Are playing dumb or are you truly dumb?
It's about being made to swear to God in a public school.
It's offensive to be forced to swear your country is subject to someone else's religion.
and which religion is that?
to me, its you thats being dumb

then you arent able to see it from our side

i didnt know we were picking sides here. what exactly are they?

christians vs gentiles?
atheists vs christians?
catholics vs protestants?
anglicans vs catholics?
divecon vs anyone who doesnt positive rep him?

what are these sides?

well, most christians ARE gentiles
the term "God" is not limited to christians
so it seems like atheists vs everyone else
and as far as the rep goes, knock yourself out, its just a joke to me

By the way I might be a Christian, I was raised that way and I haven't really fully decided what I believe in but I have been on your side and one of the reasons I am not is because most don't compromise.
I believe in a god and I don't think he ever intended for us to use his name the way some christians do or fore religions to get rich off of him. Or use his name to prescuit someone. Religion was not in government until I think catholism!
The government is their to govern all people therefore it should tell people what to say when they praise that government or a symbol of that government. Early americans wanted to spred christianity which I think is one of the reason it is in the alliagence but don't think you guys have spred enough!

atheists vs everyone? i dont think those people got a chance. theyre way outnumbered. lets make em 10-1 underdogs.

Gentlemen

The affectionate sentiments of esteem & approbation which you are so good as to express towards me, on behalf of the Danbury Baptist association, give me the highest satisfaction. my duties dictate a faithful & zealous pursuit of the interests of my constituents, and in proportion as they are persuaded of my fidelity to those duties, the discharge of them becomes more & more pleasing.

Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man & his god, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, thus building a wall of separation between church and state. [Congress thus inhibited from acts respecting religion, and the Executive authorised only to execute their acts, I have refrained from presenting even occasional performances of devotion presented indeed legally where an Executive is the legal head of a national church, but subject here, as religious exercises only to the voluntary regulations and discipline of each respective sect.] Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.

I reciprocate your kind prayers for the protection and blessing of the common Father and creator of man, and tender you for yourselves and your religious association, assurances of my high respect & esteem.

While it's clear that the constitution seperates Church and State, it does not prohibit the worship of god as well. I don't think, and this is my opinion that if the word god is offensive to someone in the pledge, that to neglect to mention it when cited is all that hard to do.
