I'll never see this in my lifetime! And, it wasn't that many years ago that over rivers in the basin still hadn't been covered over with concrete. My dad used to call this “the home of the hump-backed fish.” Only way for a fish to survive in it.

Yes! I certainly doesn't exist now anywhere along the entire length of the river.

It was originally a full-flowing river that created great grass plains all over the basin where deer and antelope freely roamed. When Mission San Gabriel was founded, the horse and cattle herds grew immense and forced wildlife to leave.

The original name was el Rio de Porculina.
