The GOP's dangerous arrogance

The Week

Excerpt:

The GOP, driven by invincible ignorance or cynical design – and perhaps both – is working overtime to trash the recovery with budget cuts that would drain demand from the economy – or a debt ceiling vote that could trigger a financial collapse equal to 2008, or perhaps unpredictably graver.

Translation: more government spending, that's the ticket!

The Rest of Shrum's Delusional Rant

Prove tax cuts for the wealthy create jobs.

Not with some partisan rant but with some cold hard evidence

Partisan rant? You just said: "tax cuts for the wealthy"

Every tax cut ever proposed by Republicans, always across the board, is a tax cut for the rich according to you people.

Low taxes = economic growth. How old you are? Seven? We have nearly 25 years of historically unprecedented economic growth and job creation at historically low tax rates under our belt since 1982. :cuckoo:

If you don't know that, I can't help you.

Lefty's mantra: tax and spend.

You cant prove tax cuts for the wealthy creat jobs can you?

They dont is why you cant prove it.

Now think about the fact that the republicans refused to sign off on a bill that allowed all the tax cuts of the Bush bill without the ones for the top 1%.

In other words they were willing to blow everything up to save a tax cut for ONLY the top bracket.

The republican party doesnt give a rats ass about you

Prove that taking away all the money from The Rich spurs real economic growth.

Its not the taking it away its the spoending the tax revenue from their legally taxed efforts.

There is NO proof Tax cuts for the wealthy spurn job creation.

Its a republican propaganda myth

aaa haa personal insults in the face of facts you can not refute.

The only fact at work is that you are an utter and complete moron without a shred of education or knowledge of macro-economics. The nonsense you posit is laughable, infantile. You offer no known system nor theory, neither Chicago, Austrian nor Keynesian. You spout half-baked socialism that you picked up from reading hate sites and watching fools on MSNBC, which you don't really comprehend. Your only goal is to shit on the GOP, for fear they will cut your SSI.

Seriously, you're a mess.

Government spent more than 25% more money last year than it did in 2007. If all we need to to is spend more money, why is economic growth so slow and why hasn't the economy created enough jobs to reduce unemployment below the promised 8% ceiling?

You need a history lesson. Tax cuts have a proven track record.

I like Glenn Beck's examples here:

Compare the marginal tax rates in the 50's to today and you see that the higher tax rates clearly were not a barrier to prosperity. The lowering of marginal tax rates (and creation of tax loopholes for the wealth, further lowering their effective tax rates) has coincided with a decrease in real wealth, measured in terms of buying power and standard of living, for most Americans.

I think this is a good place to post the picture which best represents the Epic Fail of Progressivism which has resulted in the Worst Recovery Ever.

Beck sums hs entire argument up @ 3:30

'When you give people more money, they spend more money'

this is half-true; it is why marginal taxrates, minimum wage laws, and other policies which reduce the wage gap and put more money in the hands of the working class stimulate the economy. Giving more money to Bill Gates achieves nothing.

It's called Marginal Utility. Google it.

This is from the National Institute for Labor Relations Research
Over the five years from 2001 to 2006, private-sector jobs in forced-dues states barely increased at all. Over this entire period, private-sector employment went from 68.41 million to 69.25 million, a gain of just 1.2%. Meanwhile, private-sector jobs in Right to Work states increased by 2.6 million, or 6.3%, between 2001 and 2006.

We had employment growth.
Forced unions states didn't.
