It's actually pretty simple.

There is a cultural convergence between people who tend to live in densely-populated urban areas and people to lean Left politically.

Academics, people who work for government, artistes, people who rely heavily on government support and people who believe in Big Government, unionists, homosexuals, and feminists, all, for one reason or another, gravitate to urban centers.

Everyone else - and I won't categorize them - tends to move to the suburbs, or they originate from rural areas or small towns, and remain there for life.

So when it comes time to carve up congressional districts, the urban areas end up being 80% Democrat, while the suburban and rural areas tend to be 60% Republican.

Maxine Waters wins with 90% of the vote, while her rural Republican counterpart out in the sticks wins with 55% of the vote. At the end of the day, there are more Republican representatives than there are Democrat representatives (both Federal and State), even though more than half of the voters voted Democrat.

There is NOTHING that the Supreme Court CAN do or WILL do to change this. If they try, then the Federal courts will spend the first four years of every decade trying to rationalize how the congressional districts SHOULD HAVE been carved up...and it won't make a damn bit of difference.

Don't you just love it?

Meanwhile progressives will carve up urban areas with multiple districts to make sure certain minorities get at least a few "safe" seats for each group.

Gerrymandering has some effect, but not as big as they claim.

This is just an excuse like Russia for Democrats losing. If there is all this hate towards Republicans like Democrats claim no amount of Gerrymandering would help.

The real reason is Democrats have abandoned the middle class for every minority group and illegal immigrants.

Leftist leaders cater to the ignorant among their supporters. The Ignorami believe that gerrymandering is the reason why there are more Democrats than Republicans, yet Republicans have more seats in the legislatures. As explained above, the reason is not gerrymandering, but culture.

BINGO! Mr. Blonde nailed it, "The real reason is Democrats have abandoned the middle class for every minority group and illegal immigrants."

5. Republicans drew Congressional boundaries in six of the 10 most-gerrymandered states.

In addition to North Carolina, Republicans drew district boundaries in Louisiana, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Alabama. Democrats drew districts in West Virginia and Illinois, in addition to Maryland. Boundaries in Kentucky were drawn up by that state's mixed legislature.

The reality is if there wasn't gerrymandering the Democrats would have less seats.

Districts are based on raw population. Not party, age, citizenship, or legality. They are also equally sized re: population.
In Florida every district is no more than + or - 1 person.

Yup democrats have held control.of most of the cities for DECADES and cities like Chicago have not had a Republican mayor in almost a hundred years...all due to gerrymandering, it took a long time for republicans to catch on and play the Democrat game.

Every one should gripe about gerrymandering, maters not who is doing it, not right or honest to steal even one Americans vote. both party's do it when they can. its wrong, wrong, wrong..

The maps in Wisconsin would make Gov Gerry blush. The CD and state legislative seats are extremely gerrymandered. I could see the Supreme Court turning this map aside because of the extreme gerrymandering. They also could nix majority-minority districts in favor of minority influence districts. They also could leave it alone. It seems that Kennedy will be the one who decides it.

You could be as neutral as you want, but the impact would be no more than a couple of seats. As long as Leftists congregate as they do, they will be winning urban elections in a landslide, but their influence will be impaired. Thank God.

Chicago is democratic and gerrymandering would not work, even if the Republicans were in charge of the state, They might try but they would have to gerrymander the city wards.yt eget uf only need to be gerrymandered if Republicans ruled the state and wanted to elect a Republican mayor. The Court is now somewhat involved in gerrymandering after Baker v. Carr.

Outside of California, most Americans voted for Trump. And, the most gerrymandered district in the country was done by Democrats

Actually districts should be divided so they're about 50 50. Otherwise the representatives go off the deep end and become so partisan and radical that the country becomes deeply divided and full of hate. The country has never been gerrymandered as badly as they are now. Great job, new b******* GOP a holes and ignorant dupes...

Gerrymandering is something we should all be concerned about. It's how the entrenched, establishment assholes get to keep their power. The House is as popular as cancer, but has an incumbency retention rating in the mid-90's. A lot of that has do with gerrymandering. Also, the stupidity of the electorate. lol

I don't agree that it should be 50-50 however it should not look like a snake or sea serpent. Imagine a CD that goes through 5 different cities and takes in parts of each rather than taking in 3 cities completely.
