When Christ comes again upon the earth, He will rule for 1000 years. What will life be like during this time? What kind of an economy will we have? What will life in general be like? Please feel free to quote scripture.

Revelation 20:6
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

I do not even believe humans can be resurrected in the flesh for 1000 years. For one thing, according to Frank J Tipler in his book ' the physics of immortality' , all our memory cells would be filled up in 1000 years so we would all suffer from instant Alzheimer's.

Not to discredit Frank J Tipler, but his research is likely to be among the mortal man. A resurrected being is an immortal being. I believe the capacity of an immortal being would be quite different from that of a mortal. At any rate, the timeframe I refer to is the millennial era here on the earth after Christ comes back to rule and reign for 1000 years on earth. During this thousand years, interaction between those who are immortal and mortal will occur. Those who are mortal will still die or be changed in a twinkling of an eye.

1 Corinthians 15:51-53
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Another prophecy is that the young will grow up to be old and their age to be as the age of a tree.

Doctrine and Covenants 101:30
30 In that day an infant shall not die until he is old; and his life shall be as the age of a tree;

OK then, even if immortals had a different memory capacity, what about the fact that the world would be massively over populated?

There will also be no war. Even among the animal kingdom.

Isaiah 2:4
4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Isaiah 11:6-9
6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den.
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

OK then, even if immortals had a different memory capacity, what about the fact that the world would be massively over populated?

What is the maximum capacity of the earth? If the desserts blossomed as the rose would there not be enough capacity? Also all the wicked will be destroyed at the second coming before the millennial era is ushered in.

Isaiah 35:1
1 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.

2 Nephi 30:10
10 For the time speedily cometh that the Lord God shall cause a great division among the people, and the wicked will he destroy; and he will spare his people, yea, even if it so be that he must destroy the wicked by fire.

Porker, very interesting and thank you.

For those of the readers who are a bit short on Mormonism, Millennial, and End Times, the following will help. A friend of mine put this together for a religious history conference several years ago. He asked to not be identified because of the boisterous nature of some of our posters.

The Mormon Nation and Millennialism
  1. Pre-millennialism -- ‘end times’ terrible events that prepare the way for Jesus Christ to come again, end the destructive tribulation, and reign for a 1000 years in peace
  2. Post-millennialism – man through conviction and sanctification (the Wesleyan ‘holy walk’ of sanctification’ [John Taylor and Wilford Woodruff] combining both works and righteousness in a separated ‘sion’ that Christ will later come to accept it.
Mormon millennialism is a compound of characteristics of both pre-
millennialism and post-millennialism.

Pre-Millennial Mormonism Apocalyptic end times tribulations are described in the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants. (see Porker's comments above and scripture references.

Post-Millennial Mormonism [the following is what the Mormon settlers
were trying to accomplish in the Rocky Mountains]

Separation: erecting and building a Sion

Sanctification: Law of Consecration

Preparation for the Millennial Era

1 – the Second Coming is near

2 – society must be prepared (sanctified) and ready spiritually and temporally

3 – the theocratic unified system of government and administration were erected under the constraint of time.

4 – The education morally and ethically to develop “a community of the highest moral and ethical standards in line with the tenets of the faith, also worthy of the Advent.”

5 - Strong leadership with speed and direction
a – villages and towns
b – the 1st US extensive irrigation system
c – the desert bloom and industry flourish
d – establish their political hold,
e – and create the Kingdom of God on earth

I would advise for readers to go on the net and find “Central Planning and Transition in the American Desert: Latter-day Saints in Present-Day Sight.” By Gregory Grossman, University of California, Berkeley. This article is a compressed version of a paper presented at the Annual Conference of the European Association for Comparative Economic Study in Barcelona in September 2000.

Also this site has a very good discussion on the subject. Mormons and Millennialism

Satan will be bound and will not be able to tempt men for 1000 years.

Revelation 20:2
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

Revelation 20:7
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

The Lord himself will be among men on the earth

Doctrine and Covenants 29:11
11 For I will reveal myself from heaven with power and great glory, with all the hosts thereof, and dwell in righteousness with men on earth a thousand years, and the wicked shall not stand.

There will be those who will refuse the mark of the beast (which is yet to be fulfilled) and who will be beheaded because of it. These will live again in the millennium and will reign with Christ during the 1000 years.

Revelation 20:4
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Children will grow up without sin unto salvation. The Lord will be our King and lawgiver.

Doctrine and Covenants 45:58-59
58 And the earth shall be given unto them for an inheritance; and they shall multiply and wax strong, and their children shall grow up without sin unto salvation.
59 For the Lord shall be in their midst, and his glory shall be upon them, and he will be their king and their lawgiver.

There will be those who will refuse the mark of the beast (which is yet to be fulfilled) and who will be beheaded because of it. These will live again in the millennium and will reign with Christ during the 1000 years.

When Christ comes again upon the earth, He will rule for 1000 years. What will life be like during this time?

The only thing about life on earth that will change is the way people understand things which will change everything perceived creating a new heaven and a new earth. To this day religious deceivers of all faiths, like stars in the sky above the hills and valleys of the human landscape, are thought of as dedicated holy men by most people to our collective shame.. In the kingdom of God religious deceivers will be universally condemned from their lofty positions as the lowest form of human life possible, "on earth as it is in heaven", (see genesis 3:14) and those who reject their lies and oppose their false claims to moral authority will emerge from the darkness and thousands of years of persecution as righteous.

The first will be last and the last will be first.

The prophecies concerning the resurrection of the dead are about those living under the condemnation of God as a consequence of violating the divine commands coming out of their graves, renouncing the lies of whatever devil deceived them, and conforming to the will of God according to the deeper implications of the written Law, as revealed by Jesus, reaching out for the eternal life promised for compliance.

People will still be born and have to face the challenges of living. All people will eventually physically decline and die a physical death within a normal life span. Accidents will still happen, people will still need food and shelter, and some people will still be jerks...... same as it ever was...
