KURDISTAN, 13 July (Rudaw) - Abdul Rahman Qasmlo the general secretary of Eastern Kurdsitan Democrat party was assassinated by the Iranian regime 23 years ago, on Saturday the 22nd of July it's the anniversary of his killing by the Iranian regime .
He met the Iranian regime delegates in Vienna to find a peaceful solution to the Kurdish issue in Iran , the Iranian delegates had hidden silent guns on them, after meeting in a hotel room they pulled out their guns and shot Qasmlo and his deputy leaving them in a pool of their own blood, worth mentioning the meeting was arranged by Jalal Talabani.
Qasmlo was elected as the general secretary of democrat Kurdistan party in 1971, in 1989 he was murdered by the Iranian regime .
He was in contact with Khumayni, after emerging to power to have Kurds recognized in the constitution, but then the constitution was written without mentioning anything about Kurds thus armed struggle began by the Democrat party, and With Khumayni's call for Jihad on peshmerga, Iran's army launched an air and ground defence in the Kurdistan region of Iran .
The political parties of Eastern Kurdistan to this day are very divided numbering 15 at the moment , they currently have taken refuge in KRG and are continuing their political efforts to gain kurdish rights and so far their efforts have been in vein, as Iran is still preventing Kurdish language to be taught in in schools and universities .
Worth mentioning in the meeting of the Iranian opposition parties abroad they too have refused to recognize Kurds as a distinct ethnicity for after the fall of the current regime .
