The issue of Collusion is still open

Sen. Richard Burr said the committee trusts the overall intelligence finding that Russia meddled in the 2016 election. (See the post below this one for more about what Russia did.)

What the committee is still looking at right now is possible collusion between the Russian government and the campaign. Throughout their news conference, both senators said multiple times that this part of their investigation was still open and ongoing.

"We have more work to do as it relates to conclusion," Burr said.

Russia "hacked into political files, released those files, in an effort to influence the election," Sen. Richard Burr said.

He added that Russia "actively tried to test the vulnerability of 21 states' electoral systems" and the country used paid advertisements on social media and created false accounts to "drive interests toward stories or groups ... to drive division."

"You can't walk away from this and believe that Russia's not currently active in trying to create chaos in our election process," Burr said.

Senate Intel chief: We've "hit a wall" on infamous dossier
Sen. Richard Burr said the committee has "hit a wall" when it comes to its investigation into the infamous Steele dossier. (Read more about what is in that here.)

Burr said he and Sen. Warner have tried to reach out to Steele — the former British spy behind the dossier alleging ties between President Donald Trump's campaign and Russia — multiple times for a meeting.

"Those offers have gone unaccepted," Burr said. Steele is not an American citizen, so he cannot be compelled to testify.

He added that the committee "cannot really decide credibility of dossier" without understanding things like who paid for it.

Good that people meddling with elections is such a high priority now.

One thing the Senate is clear on ....Trumps repeated claims that Russian interference is "fake news" has no merits

So in other words...a big giant nothing burger.
I don't think anyone has doubted Russia meddled in the election...and here we are yet another "investigation" ending with nothing.

Yet the Senate is unwilling to declare that Trump collusion is a "nothing burger"

We've by and large all accepted that this society, its political system, and its economic system are corrupt, that's why all anyone ever does is blame someone else. Allows everyone to deny any responsibility for anything at all.

mr trump loved leaks before he hated them coming from forces within the US Government.
