I think that about fits for a point here. An America that turns away from the world is no more safer, indeed, is less safer, than an America that stays engaged.

Right Wing, not all of them music to the ears of the PC-Republicans here, who celebrate everything Bush does as perfect (you can look long and hard on USMB before finding someone with any rep power openly criticizing President Bush).

To me, the biggest point he makes is that ideas flow back and forth in America regardless of party and ideology. I'm not that old, but I'm old enough to remember Reagan's timidity in the use of force, which reflected our national fear of being embroiled in another Vietnam. It's good for conservatives here to be reminded that Clinton was not a wimp when it came to projecting U.S. power, which undercuts the constantly repeated assertion that Democrats are weak on defense.

There are ongoing tensions in America between interventionism/isolationism, larger government which protects/smaller government which stays out of the way, individual/community. In arguments here, many USMB members simply take one side of these dichotomies as "all right," painting the other side as "all wrong." An article such as this one serves to remind us that most of us are really more in the middle, and that the national mood swings this way and that.

If you understand that point, RightWing, you'll stop putting down "libs" all the time, and start realizing that you're a liberal too--unless you're in favor of all the nastier things unrestrained capitalism and ineffective government can produce, from monopolies to child pornography to unsafe working conditions to Superfund sites.

    Mariner.

    LOL. I doubt it.

I think our government is in FAR more danger of becoming too liberal. HALF our legislators are pretending BUSH is the enemy. THat's insane. You libs are insane. I'll put you down, and rightfully so! :whip: Groove on the pain, slug!

I sure disagree with you on your assessment of the 'Week-end' warrior 'Billy-Bob' Oh hell yeah he sent missel's after a asprin factory, hit deserted tents way out in the desert...and attacked the Balkins from the Air with Nato marked planes...he however surely helped the "New Ottoman Empire" regain land lost during the old crusades...they are having a blast burning all the Christian churches in the Balkins as we speak....not to forget the rape and pillage of Christian villages...yup Billy did so much, then again yes he did for the Socialist party also known as the Communist party,USA...and now we have Hillary dillery dock the war mouse that ran up the clock...she also talks a good game of 'projecting US power' I suppose she will throw shashimi(rotten cabbage) at North Korea when the time comes.....
