The Illusions of The Minimum Wage

How do you know that? It happened here in the past and is the status quo in many nations around the world.

The aim of capitalism is money. There are other aims that society must look to and capitalism has shown its ugly side already.

The aim of capitalism is of course profit, but it also has the aim of private ownership of capital which the individual creates for himself. Without this capitalistic incentive it is doubtful that America would be the star it is. Why make money if you can't keep it?

Some people are just more creative and more skillful managers than others and therefore they make more money as a result of their efforts. Socialists are against that kind of individual success. They want everybody to have a piece of the pie that was created through the toil and sweat of an individual who created and carried his company to the point of success. They think that the employees are due "their share" of the profits even though they did not share in the creative process and the overhanging risk and they would have just left the company for another job if the owner did not come up with their paychecks.

Forcing an arbitrary increase of wages is a form of socialism. Let the market dictate wages just as it dictates the success or failure of an individual enterprise.

That artice is really deciving. It does not take into account changes in the global market place. Nor does it consider the industries of PA and NJ or whose economy was more supceptible to outsourcing. Nor does it take into account diffences in state fiscal policy that could have drastic effects on local low wage earners. Essentially it assumed the two economies to be exactly the same (which they are not) and then compared them in a manner that would yield the desired results. Now THAT'S scholarship. :mm:

Nor does it take into account how the local governments of PA and NJ have run these 2 states into the fucking ground as far as hiking taxes etc. PA has risen taxes to the point that they cant go any higher according to state law that was written 100 years ago. So they are inventing new taxes to get from us. Jersey is another mess. Insurance is ridiculous because of all the malpractice and frivelous lawsuits. Legislation to reform it will never go through because we have a lawyer as the governor. Doctors cant afford to practice in the state. You wonder why businesses dont want to come here? :(
