The Hypocrisy of the Left

How come there's no hue and cry from the MSM or from the lefties about the rich democrats? Kennedy was richer than God, would they say he was a bad president? They have no trouble bitching about Romney's wealth, as though that has anything to do with being a good president.

snippet:

Mr. Romney is being criticized in the mainstream media for having paid just about 14 percent of his income in federal income taxes and having some of his money in places like Switzerland and Cayman (even though he appears to have paid all of the taxes on interest and dividends that were due to the United States). Yet, eight years ago, when the far richer Mr. Kerry and his wife paid a slightly lower tax rate and also had their money dispersed globally, as sensible rich people do, they were lauded by many of the same folks who are now in a tizzy about Mr. Romney's finances. Note: Mr. Kerry's wife inherited her money, while Mr. Romney earned his by building real businesses.

Rich people usually employ others to manage their money. Presidents and presidential candidates put their money in blind trusts, as have Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama. When people hire money managers, they expect them to make the highest after-tax returns commensurate with the level of safety those people desire, and the managers have a fiduciary responsibility to do so. Diversification, by type of investment (stock, bonds and real estate) and by geography, is considered prudent financial management.

I'll answer

Every one of those Democrats is willing to vote for higher taxes for the wealthy

How many Republicans are?

Those rich Dems aren't willing to do away with the loopholes they take advantage of.

Besides -- what's keeping them from sending more money to the Treasury?

Hint: Nothing.

I'll take a rich Democrat seriously on tax policy when they prove they're sending extra money to the government over and above what they're obligated to.

You bet your ass, but these days investors and entrepeneurs can go elsewhere and make more money. A fact that those on the left seem to ignore.

No....we don't ignore it....we see it every time we go to a convenience store and see people who used to have real jobs working a shit job that teenagers used to work at.

So basically, what you are saying is that loyalty to our country, patriotism and sacrifice is only for the "little people". Leona Helmsley would be proud.

Not saying that at all, but what you're saying is a hard sell in this country. Most Americans believe an employee should be paid what he is worth, what the market will bear rather than what he needs to be comfortable. They don't want to be cheated of course, but they do want what they've earned, whether it's minimum wage on up to millions. What you're talking about is more socialistic, and that ain't patriotic to most people. The American Dream is all about being successful, but also being honest and fair with everybody. It's about working hard and earning what you get; it's not about getting more than you've earned, or paying someone else more than the job is worth - nothing patriotic about that IMHO.

And BTW, a job is a job. There is a certain amount of honor and integrity in doing any job well, regrdless of the size of the paycheck. Too bad more people don't realize that.

It's not Socialistic. It's what is right. You want to talk about welfare and the idle? I'll agree with you...That's Socialistic....but a fair day's pay for a fair day's work is nothing of the sort.

What's fair? Most people would say it's what the going rate is, whatever the average wage is for the job. It's not necessarily a living wage, if someone wants a living wage or better then they need to acquire marketable skills so that an employer will hire them at that rate. That's sounds fair and right to me.

I give up....you're a brainwashed idiot. Go suck off Beck and Limbaugh a little more.

There are damn near 400 MILLION Citizens living in this country. If half of the country can't make it without some sort of help from the government.....think about it...... that is 200 MILLION people! Those statistics go way fucking beyond laziness and lack of motivation.....That is a systematic flaw in our system that fucking PANDERS to the wealthy elite and disregards a huge fucking chunk of this country. If that's the kind of nation you want to live in.....fine.....but excuse the hell out of me if I fight for something better.

When you are in an economic depression, and the gulf between the rich and the poor is as wide, and ever growing, as it is now, it's natural to see what would be deemed as class warfare. When the average American is losing their home and having to move back in with mom and dad, and they turn the tv on and see how well the wealthy and large corporations are doing, they tend to get pissed off.

why? is it the riches fault they are rich, should they just give to the poor and say

"dear poor,

from now on we shall work for you and make you rich

the wealthy"

get real stop the class warfare its not their fault how you feel, put ur big boy and girl pants on and be happy for what u got, dont begrudge them.

It is not the fault of the rich for being rich

It is our fault for continuing policies that enable them to continue to gain and protect wealth while ignoring policies that will help the growth of the middle class

Because people don't like to feel as if the system is rigged.

Hey, if you object to being compared to Communists, stop advocating stuff Communists would want.

Simple, huh?

Hey, if you object to being compared to Communists, stop advocating stuff Communists would want.

Simple, huh?

Why would advocating programs that help working Americans be Communist?
Because you want to take from the rich.

You're not entitled to that which you haven't earned. Your station in life is the result of your choices, and your choices alone.

You don't like it? Fix it. No one's keeping you down.

Ease down on the class warfare, Dave. We get it. You get those delicious scraps from the tables of your masters, and in return you dutifully serve as their loyal attack poodle.

Free men, of course, don't live like Dave. We need no one's table scraps. We simply need the rich to stop robbing everyone else, to end the class warfare.

Now, I would compare commies to Dave, but that would be an insult to commies. After all, no commie ever demanded wealth redistribution at the scale that Dave demands. Dave is clearly upset if anyone in the middle class possesses a dollar that rightfully belongs to his rich masters.

It is not taking from the rich

We have reduced capital gains, income taxes, corporate tax rates and provided subsidies and incentives all in the name of fostering job creation. Rather than create more jobs, they just kept the profit

Why continue policies that help the wealthy if they do not accomplish what was promised?

Amazingly clueless.

Bet your high school social studies teacher would give you an A+!

"Between 2007 and 2009, after-tax earnings by Americans in the top one percent for income fell 37 percent. On a pre-tax basis they fell 36 percent in the same period.

That may sound like a minor haircut for One Percenters compared to people who lost their jobs. But when you take into account federal transfers, assistance and taxes paid, the incomes of the bottom 20 percent grew by 3 percent, while it fell a modest 2 percent for the middle 20 percent.

In other words, the incomes of the top one percent fell 18 times more than the incomes for the middle class at the start of the recession."

You were shot down the last time you tried to pass off that tid-bit. Why do you think it will work this time?

Cherry picking the Stock Market crash of 2007-2009 as evidence that the rich have a declining income is deceptive

Why don't you comment on their wealth growth from 2009-2012 when the market has doubled and employee wages and benefits have decreased?

Uh oh.

Amazing how you continue to make things up, and they pretend that they actually happened.

I hope it's just intentional fabrication, designed so that you don't have to actually confront the CNBC quote....

...but, I'm afraid it's that dementia showing up.
