The hottest July on record

it's hot.

But isn't this getting a little ridiculous?

• For most of the Tampa Bay area, the three-month span of May-June-July was the hottest on record since the National Weather Service started keeping records more than 100 years ago.

• In St. Petersburg, last month was the second hottest July on record. In Tampa, it ranked third.

• In both locations, May and June this year were also among the top four.

In Kentucky....

In case you didn’t already know that, check Friday’s new record: 100 degrees at 4 p.m., breaking the previous mark of 99 set in 2007.

“If it is going to be bad, you might as well break a record,” said a philosophical Rick Lasher, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Louisville.

With the humidity, it felt like 108 degrees, Lasher said.

Anecdotal evidence X a very large number of same = statistically significant evidence.

Were we not in a rapidly changing climate, we would not be seeing the records being broken on a daily basis. The longer a record is kept in a static situation, the more of the natural variation peaks have been reached. If the the peaks are increasing in number as the record gets longer, then the situation is not static, it is changing.

In this case, as we see this year, and especially in the last decade, even the rate of change is increasing. But those that deny basic science will keep right on with their ideologically driven drivel.

There are no longer any Scientific Societies that do not state that AGW is a fact and a clear and present danger. That alone should be a clue for the clueless on this board.

The East just sweltered through one of its hottest Julys on record, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported Monday. Every state from Maine to Florida endured one its top-10 warmest Julys since records began in 1880. Two states, Delaware and Rhode Island, had their hottest July ever.

And it is so cool in Southern California that fruits and vegetables are having a hard time ripening. So much for that long hot July that NOAA is claiming.

So, we are losing crops in California to unusual weather, we have lost as much of a third of the grain crops in Russia due to weather, 5% to 10% of the grain crops in Europe, and are seeing crops in South America affected by weather.

But according to our faux geologist, none of this means anything, even though the climate scientists predicted that this would be the harbingers of a climate change.

Actually editec is quite correct. And I don't think many people are arguing that there hasn't been a warming trend since the little ice age. The arguing is about how big the contribution is from burning fossil fuels. Some think catastrophe is around the corner and some think natural variation (plus small AGW). I think the earth's natural homeostasis is easily up to dealing with man's folly but others disagree. Who appears to be more correct about the gulf disaster? The doomsayers or the moderates?

Please define "rapidly changing climate".

the point i have maintained is that weather is anecdotal but they want to exclude weather data that doesnt support their crap
and yes,m accumulated data from multiple sources would be useful in determining the temp of the planet as a whole and the way it changes over time
but they want to use a short time frame data to make all time coverage

Temperature records fall as capital region bakes

By David Karp, Times Colonist August 15, 2010

For the second time this summer, Victoria is experiencing record-setting temperatures.

Friday and Saturday were the hottest Aug. 13 and 14 on record for Victoria, and we could be in for more chart-topping heat in the next few days.

Friday's high of 31.3 C, measured at Victoria International Airport, broke the record of 30.2 set in 2002.
