The holocost was terrible but think of the 30million in Georgia, thanks to Stalin, Then there is what the Japanese did to the Chinese, Polpot and the list goes on. The Jews just have a better promotional effort.

Now we are "grading" atrocities committed against mankind?

You obviously have way too much time on your hands.

The thing about the Holocaust is the shockingly systematic way the Nazis went about murdering Jewish people. The Japanese were a conquering hoard during WW2. They murdered Chinese and Korean civilians because they were in the way. Stalin was a monster who starved his own people in order to force the population to accept his peculiar idea of socialism. Germans murdered Jews because they were Jews. They did sociological studies and geneological investigations and facial characteristic studies and name recognition so they could exterminate every single Jew within their area of occupation. It was a horror of the likes that was never seen before in recorded history.

I think you meant to include Mao in there (what else you meant to do is clear enough...).

Not according to the Obama administration. Barry Hussein's "communications director" Anita Dunn told a class of High School kids in 2009 that her favorite political philosophers were Mother Teresa and Chairman Mao. Dunn is no longer with the administration but contributes to left wing blogs and MSNBC.

Obviously the Holocaust is the worst in our minds because we were engaged in a war with the perpetrators and it thus serves as a cause before, during, and after the war. Plus, other dictators like Stalin, Pol Pot, etc were good at hiding their atrocities until after the fact. And even then there was less publicity. The Holocaust had the Allied soldiers witnessing, the recordings, and - of course - the Nuremberg Trial for the world to see. All genocides are equally atrocious, but some live on in our mind based on a complex of geopolitical relationships and media coverage.

things will start to get better if the people of this world will stop the competition of "what genocide was the worst" and try to stop genociding each other.................

30 million ..that is the highest number i have heard for stalin.....man of steel.....most accept 20 million as a high number

not only did the nazi go about killing jews....but other 'outcasts' ....and the medical experiments.....remember the horror of those....in some camps it was better off to die...

the horror of the nazi's is perhaps the acceptance of the german people of what was happening.....i wonder how hard it would be to get the american people to accept this type of thing?

It brings up an interesting point that the FDR defenders might not like. There was such an endemic racial bigotry during the 1st half of the 20th century that the US government actually thought that the Japanese were little yellow nearsighted monkeys who were incapable of building a ship that would float or a plane what would fly. The US had virtually no international intelligence capability during the 30's and early 40's so bigotry was the prevailing element in the assessment of the threat of the Japanese military empire. Indications that FDR wanted the Japanese to attack the US in order to get into the "real war" in Germany puts the Pearl Harbor attack into perspective. After the war MacArthur became the appointed emperor of Japan and he personally downplayed atrocity charges and prevented a Nuremburg like tribunal in Japan.
