Remember the old fable, the ants worked and saved in the summer for the lean winter, while the grasshopper played and starved in the winter.
During Bush's prosperous years instead of saving, a 7 trillion dollar debt was accrued while implementing tax cuts.
Summer and winter are natural cycles, just like the economic cycle.
The lesson for us is we were supposed to reduce the debt in the good times to borrow from our savings to carry us thru the hard times in the recession.
It called Keynesian economics.
