There are people who have nearly unlimited freedom to act.

We call those people SOCIOPATHS.

Individuals want to be free, but the masses need to be controlled. Religion used to be a relatively effective means of controlling the masses, but now many want to replace it with something else. I'm not sure why they think their 'something else' is an upgrade. But whatcha gonna do?
