This is seriously fracked up. It turns out that, despite what the Constitution clearly says, which is "[N]or shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb," you can actually prosecute someone twice in the exact same court for the exact same crime after the jury announces that they reached a unanimous verdict.

Simple Justice: Double Jeopardy and the Mulligan Exception

Congratulations to SCOTUS on screwing us over on another of our rights. Can anyone explain why only the women on the bench got this one right?
