The GOP's Biggest Threat

Illegal immigration into the US has been declining since 2007. With the increase in boarder security and falling unemployment rate in Mexico, now 5.2% the trend is likely to continue. As far as those that are here. They aren't leaving. Government is not going to throw them out because the public doesn't support it. Eventually they will be assimilated with or without action from the government.

Barack Hussein Obama (peace be on him).

My understanding is that "peace be on him" is something Muslims say after mentioning the name of a prophet, which President Obama most definitely is not. (Anyway my Muslim former boss used to say those words after saying the name of Moses, Jesus, or Mohammed.)

I disagree with the assertion that the problem the GOP has with hispanics is "irreversible." If the Democrats didn't find their history of racism an impossible problem in terms of the black vote, the Republicans will not find their current anti-Hispanic stance held against them in the future, if they change.

But they do have to change first.

two groups the GOP needs to get it right with... Hispanics and Working folks.

They don't get there with

"I like to be able to fire people"

and

"I can't have illegals here, I'm running for office for Pete's Sake."

Mitten's rebuke of the Dream Act will send Hispanic voters fleeing into Obama's waiting arms :)

I'm sure his fearmongering by calling conservatives 'the enemy' will help.... God knows, he can't win with honesty.

Who called conservatives "the enemy"? You mean that "Kenyan Colonial Mau Mau Marxist Communist Socialist man child boy king who pals around with terrorists"? That guy?

Since the New Deal, Republicans have been on the wrong side of every issue...Social Security, Medicare, the war in Vietnam, equal rights, civil liberties, church state separation, consumer issues, public education, reproductive freedom, national health care, labor issues, gun policy, campaign finance reform, the environment, and tax fairness.

No political party could remain so consistently wrong by accident. The only rational conclusion is that, despite their cynical "family values" propaganda, the Republican Party is a criminal conspiracy to betray the interests of the American people in favor of plutocratic and corporate interests, and extremist religious groups.

No. I mean the messengers of the Messiah, St Barack Obama.

One tries to remain objective with regard to the GOP’s position on this, attributing it to static conservative authoritarianism rather than racism, as their opposition to Obama is partisan, not racist.

Republicans have also done a poor job understanding the complexity of the issue, it’s not just ‘law and order,’

Agreed. They need to come to grips with the fact that the problem has gotten too far out of hand at this point to simply start enforcing the law now and thinking they are going to deport 12 million people.

To deal with the people already here, we should pass the Dream Act for those who were brought here as children, and provide a pathway for citizenship for their parents providing they can prove they will be productive members of society and not suck off entitlements. The violent criminals should continue to be thrown out and then we should put the U.S. military on the border, rather than having them on everyone else's, to stop people from coming here illegally in the future and also to safeguard us from the rising border violence of the drug cartels.

Well, some of us have been around long enough to remember this is the exact same argument used back in the eighties... and here we sit 30 years later and all we accomplished is we gave amnesty to about 5,000,000 illegal aliens and continued to let them flood in illegally.
Yep. Reagan got snookered by the Democrats.

The reason why conservatives wont change the hispanic or black vote in their favor is because in order to correct a problem you have to first admit there is a problem. Cons dont believe they are doing anything wrong by saying incredibly stupid things on Anti-Immigration, Social Issues etc. They blame the big bad "liberal media" for REPORTING it.

Hell? he's already called Individualism the enemy in his quest to bring forth full-blown Socialism to the United States...

COMMENTARY | President Barack Obama traveled to Osawatomie, Kan., to rail against rugged individualism, breathe new life into his faltering presidency and to summon his inner Teddy Roosevelt in one of the strangest speeches of his presidency. He seemed rather absurd doing so.

The Roosevelt that Obama was invoking was not the man who charged up San Juan Hill, built the Panama Canal or even growled "Pedicarus alive or Rasuli dead!" Obama's Roosevelt was the man who started the Progressive Movement with the idea of imposing government control over the private sector to give every American a "square deal."

Pubs love the cheap labor, and distract the dupes with ridiculous talk of shipping 12 million people home, a useless, un-American Berlin Wall, and, useless, unconstitutional laws that only harass all hispanics.
Pubs refused, and refuse, to pass any laws for a real, enforceable SS card, OR hold employers really liable for hiring illegals. It's their fault the Reagan amnesty wasn't follpwed through on, or any solution NOW. (in addition to blocking ALL legislation since 2/2010) WAKE UP.

The fact of the matter is that illegal immigrants are helping our economy.

People are assets.

Republicans will never realized this.

they merely throw their evangelical base a bone, from time to time, like the DOMA to keep them placated and in the dark

Republicans and Democrats have so much in common. They throw a bone or two to the evangelicals, the dems do likewise to minorities.

That you spot it on one side, and not from the other.... that says a lot about you.

That I see both as equal says a lot about me.

I would rather see the whole picture - like I do, than half a picture - like you do.

Thing is? Republicans are filling the void as Democrats move farther left.
