The GOP Is Dead... Consigned To The Dustbins Of History...

Conservative values will return (possibly under a new name) once the freeloading liberal parasites have to start working for their welfare and they learn the concept of capitalism. Wealth redistribution is always attractive when you're the one receiving it, but when you're the one funding it, it's a different story.

I recall that being said after Ford lost to Carter...

So what do you think the GOP should do to make their party relevant again?

They should look at what Governor Scott Walker did in WI. Walker stated what he planned to do and he won the governorship. Then Walker did what he said he would do, and those who opposed recalled him. The recall was an epic fail...Walker won the recall by a larger margin than he originally won his governorship by. The GOP should look to Walker in that he refused to give in to the media or the Democrats. Republicans need to stand up and fight. One thing is for sure, being the party of surrender sure is not working for them. Republicans should also seriously consider using the Democrats tactics against them instead of being "nice guys". Nice guys finish last.

Here here. We see how far being nice got Mitt Romney. He declined to deliver the knockout punch a number of times during the debates.

The GOP has had some trouble coming up with candidates over the years. I've tried to disect exactly why and I'm not really sure. I think it could be that actually working a CEO job pays so much more than the CEO job of being president, no one wants to take a pay cut. In the DNC, pretty much any advancement legitimate or otherwise is a pay raise.

your party only cares about money and not the country

Get rid of some or all of the old geezers and put in some new young blood for a start

Getting rid of old geezers in both parties would be a good idea.

For every Harry Reid there is an equally evil and out-dated Mitch McConnell.

TERM LIMITS!!! No Senator should be allowed to infect Washington, DC with their poisonous presence for more than 8 years. Yes, no Senator's term should be allowed to be longer than the President's.

And no more than 8 years for and member of the House, either.

That would be NEW BLOOD.

On one hand they whine about the republican majority in the house and then they claim it's irrelevant. The only thing the democrat has going for it is the total support of hollywood and the mainstream media. Otherwise they would be laughed out of Washington.

You're right WH don' listen to liberals lecture us on the Republcian party. It is a storyline like all their storylines. They make it up and stick to it regardless of facts.

The Republican party will do fine in the future considering the mess the democrats are making of everything. Either that or the takers will maintain control and the country will implode. Either way the disaster we are seeing is not the Re publican's fault no matter how much the left whines. You are correct they claim that the Republican party is irrelevant then claim that the Republican party is holding up everything. They want their storyline both ways. Obama won because he is black pure and simple there is no other explanation except the election was rigged.

MAC1958 opined:

"The Democrats have all the momentum right now, plus they have demographics on their side (a fact that continues to mysteriously evade conservatives)."

The fact that seems to mysteriously evade liberals is that the presidential candidate in 2016 will not be a (half)black man, at least not on the Democratic side. All the guilt feelings about slavery will have been over by then.

Another fact that seems to mysteriously evade the liberals is that when the presidential Democratic candidate is not a (half)black man, African Americans by and large, despise the unhappy 5% of the population who call themselves gay.

Another fact that seems mysteriously to evade the liberals is that Hispanics are predominantly Roman Catholics and when the presidential candidate for the Democrats is not a (half)black man, they condemn abortion on demand as much as old white folks do.

Another fact that seems to mysteriously evade liberals is that young unmarried women will be older married women in four years (at least those who did not scare eligible young males away with unreasonable and insane feminism) and as a result they will be wiser than they were in 2012.

And another fact that seems to mysteriously evade liberals is that most people who have been working all their lives are not so willing to give their hard-earned money in confiscatory taxes to the government in order to support free-loaders and food stamp recipients.

And another fact that seems to mysteriously evade liberals is that in politics everything is like a pendulum. Swing this way this year, swing another way next year. Or four years from now.

So, gloat, brag, revel and rejoice, liberals, while you may, it will be about as long as the that there was between 2008 and 2010.

Okay, good luck with that.

Don't forget, 52% of the voters, too. No super-majority needed for us to have another President Clinton in '16! :D

But the stock market keeps going up, hmmm! Looks like we're working our way out of the mess despite what the doom-n-gloomers say. The economy should be chugging right along to give President Clinton a leg up on her first term. :2up:

After moments, no, four years, well, no, eight years of glorifying a (half)black thief who takes your money and wants to take your ability to defend yourself from thugs, people will realize that the most important thing in their lives are their families and their pocket books. At least those who still work for a living. For those on food stamps and sponging off the decent portion of the population, decency and honor and integrity and honesty and working for a living is a strange and alien concept and they will always vote Democrat.

If you depend on the change in demographics in order to explain the unreasonable results of the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections, and try to project what will happen in 2014 and then again in 2016, well, good luck with that.

Safe to assume, then, that the GOP doesn't need to do anything differently?

The GOP will do differently all the things that need to be done differently. Both parties have always done that, that is why there are still two parties and there will always be two parties in the foreseeable future.

I, personally, would not mind if the GOP stood by its principles and let what may come, come.

But being realistic, I concede my opinion to the wisdom of the Party, which can not help but be in the upswing, according to history and common sense.

Agreed. In this day and age, democrats operate as nasty people. Nasty, mean-spirited and spiteful. They operate as "political terrorists" and they take no prisoners. The unfortunate part of this equation is that the Republican Party REFUSES to get down in the gutter where democrats live. I believe with all my heart that democrats believe (and have been conditioned to believe) that "civility" is for losers.

Until the Republican Party decides to adopt the same tactics as these democrats and then attacks 3 times harder, there is little hope of returning to relevance. This nonsense of "smiling in defeat" turns my stomach. I live by the mantra of "show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser".
