The uber rich pay very little in estate taxes. Our tax code is loaded with loopholes for those that can afford tax consultants and lawyers. With proper tax planning the rich can avoid most the expense of estate taxes. The people that are effected most are those with estates above about 5 million who have not done adequate tax planning. Often these are people who have grown old and paid little attention to their investments and real estate they own.
