The Essential Xmas Cookie Selection

If you can only make five different types of Xmas cookies, which ones do you make? My contention is, those sugar cookies are too much trouble and although they're fun to decorate, no one really likes them. I think you must have rum balls, but beyond that I'm undecided. Are chocolate chip cookies "special" enough?

Try to keep this thread from going totally vicious, folks....I know some of you are passionate on the subject. LOL.
