The End of the Culture War

McCain went all to shit. It's like, we're standing right here....and you're NOT behaving like a maverick...hello????

Great discusssion on NPR. The gist of it is that President Obama wants to take the country toward what unifies us, rather than the politics of individuality.

I'll see if I can find a link to the article.

interesting....what specifically was stated that unifies us.....

Issues like the economy, health care, the war in Iraq and international relations have the potential to unify us. They diverge from the war of individualism.

They transcend individual differences and encourage common ground.

How do you expect us to end the Culture war by focusing upon things we agree upon, when we agree upon NOTHING?

Obama is a socialist...Evangelicals hate socialism even though most are poor.

Obama wants to make single payer health care controlled by the Government, Evangelicals hate that too.

Obama hasn't pulled us out of the war in Iraq which we WON...so another boo boo.

Bottom line is Evangelicals, conservatives, liberals, mainstream Christians, all have divergent views in line with one or the other...regardless if it is Abortion or Gay Marriage. And they will bring their cultural views into play regardless.

I applaud Obama willing to compromise and find common ground.

I wish him luck. He'll need it, because I don't think many on the conservative side are willing to compromise one bit. Their leaders on the Murdoch news channels like Rush, Sean, Mark, et all are certainly not promoting compromise, quite the contrary.

You paint with far to broad a Brush. Most though scarcely all of the founding Fathers were Christian at least nominally. Washington certainly was. Jefferson was a deist. Adams depending on which of his letters you read could be but might not be. and shuch it is with most of them.

On it's face the statement that none of the founders were Christian is pure idiocy given the dominant culture of the day.

Oh and most settlers came here to escape the persecution of their particular religious viewpoint not to escape religion.
