The U.S. has NEVER sought to create or maintain an empire. To those who claim we have, what countries are under our control? Name them.

Compare our history with the British imperial period. Compare with what the Europeans did and tried to do in Africa and Southeast Asia. In fact, there IS NO comparison.

When have we ever invaded a foreign country or declared war on a country, FOR OUR OWN BENEFIT? Never.

No nation in history hs ever had the power of the US and used it less

..Likkmee has a good point....the US has constantly tried to overthrow/meddle/etc in foreign governments/countires..this can't be denied...
...some with $$$$$$ motivation
...but then again others not so much--Cuba was more of a defensive motivatation
...Vietnam/etc was more of an ant-communist motivation--less $$$$
...Iran 1953 appeared to be for $$$$- oil
...Guatemala appeared to be for $$$$


but, the US has not waged war for it's own benefit--generally speaking
these wars were not INITIATED by US:
Spanish-American
WW1 and 2
Korean
Vietnam
PG1--PG2 was a continuation of PG1
Grenada was to protect Americans--US did not indefinitely occupy it
Panama same

and the different POTUSs had different ideas
FDR was very much against colonialism/French and British rule of foreign countries/etc
