The Dow is on pace for its worst month in more than two years.

Wonder where they got that info because Cat beat expectations.......oooooops

Cat went from $140 to $115 in five days.
Still beat earnings projection.

I didn't say it didn't. But the fact remains that - even with an earnings projection beat - it still dropped $140 to $115 in 5 days.

When Cat beats projections but still loses tons in the markets - you know the future does not look good.

Exactly, it’s called a bear market. Bull market bad news doesn’t matter, stocks go up, bear market news doesn’t matter, stocks go down.

Don't buy that. Economy is cooking. There has been no major events or bad news powering this. Only thing is housing slowdown.

Housing is a leading indicator sport. Besides, don’t be fooled into thinking the stock market is in step with the economy. Economy had anemic growth 2008 to 2016 yet market more than doubled.

Generally it is sport.....

The Dow is tumbling again

The Dow dropped 400 points on Tuesday morning after major US companies reported gloomy results and guidance. Disappointing numbers from Caterpillar and 3M reinforced ongoing concerns about how long blockbuster profits can last, especially given tariffs and rising costs.

So what is going on with the stock market?

If you'd taken a few Econ classes in college, R-Derp...you'd understand what is going on with the stock market! You'd also make an ass of yourself much less often!

Actually, if anything, the market is argued to be a leading indicator, so.....bear market now means what?

I. INTRODUCTION

The stock market has traditionally been viewed as an indicator or "predictor" of the economy. Many believe that large decreases in stock prices are reflective of a future recession, whereas large increases in stock prices suggest future economic growth.

So the fact that the Fed is determined to 'normalize' rates during an economy whose growth has been almost totally dependent on ZIRP and QE for the past 10 years? And you don't call that major?

So noted.
