Definitely one of the best movies of the year, and possibly Scorsese's best since Casino. If he doesn't finally get an Oscar for this, then.... well, we all know the Academy are a bunch of dumbasses anyway, but that'll solidify it, anyway.

It's a shame the trailers focus only on Nicholson, because Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, and Mark Whalberg are all amazing in it. Which isn't to take anything away from Nicholson, he's great, too.

Just saw it again for the second time today. PHUCKING EXCELLENT. Everyone's performance was awesome. Not a single weak link. DiCaprio surprised the hell out of me. I didn't think he was up to the task, but man he was a shocker. I recommend everyone see this movie right away. It's fun to share the AUDIENCE SHOCK reaction.

One nagging question........AND POSSIBLE SPOILER (scroll down)

WHAT WAS IN THE BROWN ENVELOPE THAT LEO HANDED VERA???? :dunno:

I can't wait to see it, too! Leonardo has always had the chops, since What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Titanic didn't help, but he still did a stirling job of that. I've always rated him!

One of the best movies we've seen this year. The casting is superb, and it's easy to see why Jack Nicholson has had such a long career in Hollywood. Not too many male stars around--if any (Sean Penn maybe)--who can match his acting ability.

Another thing about this movie is the ending. You'll never figure it out in advance.

Ray Winstone deserves a special mention as Mr French.A superb enemble cast in a superb movie.I need the DVD to add to the collection.I fancy a few oscars for this movie including best director.
