I dedicate this thread to all the other folks out there rooting for the earliest possible warning of the soon to be announced SCOTUS decision on the fate of ObamaCare.

The decision, in the matter of the most crucial importance, reveals that the so-called "individual mandate" is -- found to be CONSTITUTIONAL. It is ok as a tax.

With SOME minor fucking limitations on the Federal right to terminate State Medicate funds, the entire unConstitutional ObamaCare law is found to BE Constitutional.

I see some blogger suggesting that her reading of the opinion (not yet available generally) is: "The court reinforces that individuals can simply refuse to pay the tax and not comply with the mandate."

WTF?

"As I have explained, the Court’s continued use of that test “has encouraged the Federal Government to persist in its view that the Commerce Clause has virtually no limits.” Morrison, supra, at 627. The Government’s unprecedented claim in this suit that it may regulate not only economic activity but also inactivity that substantially affects interstate commerce is a case in point." -- Clarence Thomas

Because the SCOTUS doesn't care to honor or comply with the Constitution.

but they did. they just don't agree with Tea Party Imbecilic interpretations of things.

the whacky world of right wing politics just got bitch-slapped

But, no. They did not. The dissent is not just a bunch of meaningless words.

They actually got it right.

If you want to support ObamaCare like Justice Roberts strained to do, you'd have to ACCEPT the facially absurd contradictory claim that the "penalty" imposed for failing to get insurance -- which the Congress itself in the Act CALLED a "penalty" -- isn't REALLY a penalty. No no. It's a "tax." Congressional words in a legislative ACT are not controlling. No no. Their unstated INTENT (as divined by a Court when it suits the Government's purposes) is what THEY must have really meant.

Yeah. That's the ticket.

But if it's a tax, then it SHOULD have been apportioned. But -- nah. Words have no meaning and neither does the Constitution. Why? Because it's not THAT kind of tax.

Oh.

Face it Dainty, you are defending the win. I'm sure you're happy about it. But there is not the slightest bit of integrity in that Majority opinion. Not only have words lost their meaning, but adherence to the commands of the Constitution got tossed under the bus, too.

The only ones that got bitch slapped are those that pay for their own insurance or get it through their employer. If any one wonders why the economy sux, it is because Obamacare has increased the insurance premiums on everyone since it was passed and we just found out it was a TAX increase.

And, you ain't seen nothing yet.

No hysteria here! Only a dislike of my taxes being raised once more by a bunch of lying Democrats. The individual mandate wasn't a tax until Obama sent his lawyers to the SC to argue that it was.

He can wait a few months and get another good laugh at the American people like he did when he laughed about there not really being any shovel ready jobs.
