Eugenics Victim to Speak in Winston-Salem

Elaine Riddick, who was sterilized as a teen in the late 1960s after a state eugenics board found her to be "feebleminded" and "promiscuous," will discuss her experience as a victim of forced sterilization at noon Friday at Central Library on West Fifth Street.

Riddick has been an outspoken critic of the defunct sterilization program and was interviewed as part of the Winston-Salem Journal's series "Against Their Will," which documented the controversial program, which ended in the early 1970s.
