A 53-year-old woman injured last month when her car was crumpled in a six-vehicle pileup caused by a driver suspected of texting has died, police officials confirmed Friday.

Cheryl A. Browne of Palm Bay was sitting inside the first car to be struck during the April 19 wreck on U.S. 192, just west of Wickham Road in West Melbourne.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a four-door Ford F-150 was text messaging and had taken prescription drugs when he crashed into Browne's Chrysler PT Cruiser, which was stopped at a red light.
