The base that matters most is who controls the municipal and county councils, commissions and boards. This is where the political rubber meets the road. These are the people who decide which improvements are made locally. Whether flood control, parks, police/fire protection the lion's share of the good stuff goes where the most tax money comes from.

Then comes the state legislature. Ideally the minority party should get districts that vote 80-90% party line. the majority party should draw its own districts to win 60% of the votes consistently +/-5%. In congressional districts it should be more like 60-70%. The Red edge that has been created in flyover country combined with migration from the Blue Wall appears to be killing the Democratic party as anything but a regional party. Is there any data that indicates that this trend will reverse?

The Democratic Party's vicious hatred for mainstream middle class voters has backfired on them.
Democrats have traded American citizens for illegal aliens and Christians for Muslim and the working class for welfare class.
The Dirty Democrats are blocking Voter ID laws so that illegal aliens can cancel-out the votes of American citizens.
Dems are destroying America's democracy.
