The Cracks Appear

LOL. President Barak Hussein Obama. It was impossible for a person with obvious black blood ever to be President. In this time period, it was impossible for a person with and Arabic sounding name to be President. And now we are told it is impossible for him to succeed. The possibility that he might succeed and that this nation succeed in getting back on the right track scares the hell out of you people. You would rather see the nation fail, than President Obama succeed.

First President elected strictly because of his race, and you all find that good---so who's the racist.??

Hmmm, abortion was not brought up, by me, at all. Nor Hanson. As for Notre Dame, seems to me it's a media inspired event, with the regular list of characters. Do I think ND was wrong to invite for commencement speaker? No. Do I think they were wrong to give him an honorary degree? Yes.

I think the left should stop worrying about what those to the non-left are doing. Me? I've concentrated on the issues and will continue to do so. BTW as long as we're giving advice, it would be more honest to see where anyone on the left disagrees with anything going on. Pelosi? I believe I have a post on her.

Maggie's right...the GOP has turned into the obstruction party with no solutions...

Solutions...If you are concentrating on the "issues" Annie, I must assume your solution to health care is to do nothing; I asked you a couple times what your solution is other than posting the propaganda from a right wing front group run by a felon...

My solution is pretty much let things stay as they are. In fact, the one change I would make is for those self-employed to be able to join with larger firms to get group coverage. See the problem isn't 'health care' it's affordable 'health insurance' for those working. Those not working or too poor to pay, already get medicaid.

The Obama solution is to make medicare, writ large. Great idea that, it going bust in 7 years and all. Yet you all keep bleeting that he's got the solution, while standing there with your thumb up your....

Yes, the main problem is affordable health care, but how to make it affordable is the $64,000 question.

But we do have an idea what doing nothing will cost if costs keep increasing as thay have over the last decade.

Affordability
As health care costs continue to grow faster than wages, health insurance will become more and more unaffordable for more and more American families every day. The financial burdens associated with health care and health insurance will only get worse over time without action. The cost of the average employer-sponsored health insurance plan (ESI) for a family will reach $24,000 in 2016. This represents an 84 percent increase over 2008 premium levels. Under this scenario, we estimate that at least half of American households will need to spend more than 45 percent of their income to buy health insurance.
http://www.newamerica.net/publications/policy/cost_doing_nothing

Medicaid - Being poor, or even very poor, does not necessarily qualify an individual for Medicaid. It is estimated that approximately 60 percent of poor Americans are not covered by Medicaid.

What is Not Covered

Medicaid does not provide medical assistance for all poor persons. Even under the broadest provisions of the Federal statute (except for emergency services for certain persons), the Medicaid program does not provide health care services, even for very poor persons, unless they are in one of the designated eligibility groups. Low income is only one test for Medicaid eligibility; assets and resources are also tested against established thresholds. As noted earlier, categorically needy persons who are eligible for Medicaid may or may not also receive cash assistance from the TANF program or from the SSI program. Medically needy persons who would be categorically eligible except for income or assets may become eligible for Medicaid solely because of excessive medical expenses.

There are approximately 47 million Americans with no health care insurance, the cost of health insurance has increased by almost 75% since 2000.

I don't see how doing nothing is economically sound, or morally acceptable...

Hospitals do not turn down anyone needing care. Do they get all they want? Probably not. Then again, I don't get hearing aids with my insurance:

Poll: Health care costs too expensive, Americans say

By Paul Steinhauser
CNN Deputy Political Director
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Most Americans like their health care coverage but are not happy with the overall cost of health care, a national poll shows.

More than eight in 10 Americans questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Thursday said they're satisfied with the quality of health care they receive.

And nearly three out of four said they're happy with their overall health care coverage.

But satisfaction drops to 52 percent when it comes to the amount people pay for their health care, and more than three out of four are dissatisfied with the total cost of health care in the United States.

"When Americans say they support health care reform, that doesn't mean they want to lose their own coverage or give up their own doctor," said Keating Holland, CNN's polling director. "That's something that the Clinton White House didn't realize in 1993."....

Informative post, Bfgrn.

But it doesn't matter how many times you correct the mtyhology of some of these people, they are going to continue to insist things which are not true, anyway.

Like for example, everyone who is poor gets medicade.

Or that every hospital will accept medicade patients.

Or that most people are satisfied with the health coverage they're getting at work.

Or that nobody in America ever dies due to the pisspoor insurance they have.

They'll keep lying because that's all they have, mostly.

Lies that they find comforting. Lies designed to make them feel comfortable, and lies that make them feel superior to others

Lies that make them feel good about themselves, basically. That's why they embrace them so tenaciously, too.

They're tools, and they know it.

And that is why they hate people who aren't tools, you know.

Slaves, even slaves that sold themselves into bondage like most of these tools have, simply hate people who don't wear that slaves' collar.

No, we don't kill people because of their skin color...

You don't seem to have any perspective of what has happened to the economy and to our country. Obama has a lot of support from citizens to put an end to the corporatocracy that Washington and particularly Republicans in Washington created. The problem Obama faces is there are some Democrats that are also owned by corporations that can block legislation.

like, obama, for example.

And I clearly demonstrated for everyone with a brain that it wasn't my ignorance Bfrgn but your stupidity that was on display. You asked about why I mentioned his race, which anyone with an IQ approaching triple digits could have figured out by a simple reading of the text yours was apprently unequal to the task. Next time a Iaddress you I will be sure to use little words and short sentences to avoid confusing you.

If a healthcare bill is going to be passed, we need it to be done right. It does need to be done with a bipartisan effort. Obama is OK with no republican input, just to get it done in his timeline. I'm sure nan, and harry would want it this way, also. Unfortunatley, politicians egos get in the way of good legislation. This is a bill that needs to be done right the first time, with a lot of thought process. We can't afford to keep trying. I don't think anyone would want it pushed through like the TARP, and the stimulus packages. There was no transparency in these bills. If it is pushed through, and shoved down our throats...we will probably end up getting a Veteran Administration type of healthcare coverage. This is government at its worst. If it isn't done right, both sides of the isle will suffer from it.

The ability of the government to do things right is seldom seen as a possibility let alone a probability. Essentially all universal health coverage does is replace lawyers with bureaucrats at best and at worst gives us more of each.

The Illinois senator raised $479,209 from employees at the banks.

"These are private decisions by individuals at the firm to contribute, and it would be inappropriate for Goldman Sachs to comment on it," said Peter Rose, a Goldman spokesman.

There's not a single candidate that didn't receive contributions from these individuals. It's what they DO that will be measured.

Yes,, everyone is so satisfied at the direction the country is going.. we can just overlook the fact that one govenor has mentioned secession.. several states are in the process or have already passed laws regarding states rights re gun control,, ie Montana, Texas,, we have had tea party demostrations.. the formation of 9-12er's.. and various other groups aligning to stop the march of socialism.. but you lefty people keep your heads where ever it is you keep it..

Kerry on.

So in other words, the opposition has become a bunch of gun-toting protestors. Yeah, that's really good for America.

Why should hospitals bear the entire burden? Why should the waiting rooms be full of people with symptoms for which the diagnosis could be anything from the flu to pnemonia? Why should hospital staff to administer an aspirin or an antibiotic (which you end up paying for)? If people had INSURANCE, they could choose their own physician and go THERE for preventive medication, not to a hospital.

It's a no-brainer.

We just witnessed how incompetent Federal government is. Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac a government controlled program--is GROUND ZERO for this economic collapse. Right now--every day 2100 homes are being foreclosed upon. Social Security/Medicare is on the brink of collapse.

Now can you imagine what our incompetent Federal Government would do with health care in this country? The federal government creates disasters--when Americans start realising that "Government is not the solution--they're the problem"--is when we will get competitive free market solutions to health care & all of our other problems.

Look at California today--this is where the entire nation is headed.
