The constritution provides for the Defense of the USA.

And only provides for the defense of the USA.
How then do we perform offensive operations with our military?
Defend other nations freedoms?
Defend commercial interests in other parts of the world?
How do we even defend our allies in other parts of the world without violating our constitution?

I am just debating the constitutional aspect not the moral ones in this thread.

Well that is one intrepretation.
But not what the constitution says. And when the constitution was written the writers did understand national interests in other parts of the world. Because they had just had a revolution to break away from the British Empire. ie they were a national finiancial interest for England.
I wonder why they did not include the national interests abroad in the constitution?
You can't say it was not something they could not forsee like flying machines and such.

I disagree. Going after terrorists in foreign countries is defense of the US. I'm curious, how exactly would we (or have we) defended our commercial interests overseas using the Military?
