Amen! Dump the freeloaders!

Dana Milbank: The Confederacy of Takers - The Washington Post

President Obama’s opponents have unwittingly come up with a brilliant plan to avoid the “fiscal cliff.” They want to secede from the union.

If Obama were serious about being a good steward of the nation’s finances, he’d let them.

...

And so a large number of patriotic Americans, mostly from states won by Mitt Romney last week, have petitioned the White House to let them secede. They should be careful about what they wish for. It would be excellent financial news for those of us left behind if Obama were to grant a number of the rebel states their wish “to withdraw from the United States and create [their] own NEW government” (the petitions emphasize “new” by capitalizing it).

Red states receive, on average, far more from the federal government in expenditures than they pay in taxes. The balance is the opposite in blue states. The secession petitions, therefore, give the opportunity to create what would be, in a fiscal sense, a far more perfect union.

Oh man, please let the right wing nuts keep up this "makers vs takers" nonsense and talking seccession. The GOP may be dead and gone by 2014, not even make it to 2016!

The boy might want to rethink his position, the states Romney carried produce most of the food and energy in this country, if you break it down by county Romney carried close to 80% of the land mass. So he might be the one who should be careful what he wishes for.

California alone would break the blue empire. What Millbank isn't recognzing that the states considered poor, like Alaska, West Virginia, Kentucky and Montana are very very wealthy. They are kept poor by a federal government that has regulated exploitation of natural resources out of existence. West Virginia and Kentucky have vast mines. Montana is part of the Bakken field. Alaska is delirously wealthy with oil and natural gas. Louisiana would no longer need federal permits to drill off their own gulf coast lines.

Once states seceded, they would be directing these efforts themselves. Farmland would no longer be subjected to the EPA regulations and could grow. Whereas the orchards and fields of California would still be fallow and abandoned to protect the delta smelt.

That's just for starters. The confederacy of blue state takers would still be drifting into degeneracy with a population finding escape in drugs, lazyness and sex without consequences. How wealthy would red states become without having to support the leech cities of Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Flint, Dearbornistan, In a perfect liberal world, these cities are glittering hubs of industry and commerce. In reality they are individual war zones. The Red State Nation would be well rid of them.

It doesn't work like that when you talk about 'States.'

Each State has producers and each State has slugs.

For example, New York votes Democrat. But looking at New York City, for example, just 40,000 people (1%) pay 50% of the taxes of all 8 million people.

Those 40K are mostly the conservatives. The majority of the freeloaders are Leftist slugs such as yourself.

Those 40K are the producers, and the rest are the Obama voters.

Now you know how the 'State' thing works.

How about someone breaks the numbers down by handouts and grants vs. purchases? A purchase of something cannot be considered a handout.

If you remove purchases, I have a feeling the blue states would be far bigger takers than the red states.

Good, they'll need a barter economy when left without a financial system. Oh, and they'll also need a recognized commodity exchange.

Yeah, but think it through. All the parasites would leave the red states for the blue, what with their generous entitlements, leaving behind much leaner states with people willing to work and pay taxes. Ever think of that?

I agree. Let them secede. you democrats will be well rid of them. So, what's the problem?

New York's been losing a lot of it's wealthiest residents too. I'll tell ya if it looks like Texas is going to secede I'll move there before they lock the door. In a hearbeat.

Your so right. There are loads of States out there who could fend for themselves and be much better off without Uncle Sam.

Of course its all hogwash as no State will ever seceed from the Union. Interesting premise though.

They are not slugs, just underachievers, lazy, unmotivated individuals that feel entitled to a piece of the success resulting from hard work, sacrafice, and dedication. Look at it this way, if a greater number fit the profile of underachievers than achievers then they have the numerical advantage in taking what they want. It is simply the new American way.

I think they would discover the problem in a heartbeat once all the makers are gone and they are left with all the freeloading takers.

Kinda hard to produce anything when the populace is on Welfare, Medicaid and have the taxpayer dollar proping them up.

Interesting premise though I doubt it will ever happen. LOL

Where to start....

WV and KY....vast mining opportunities you say? Once the states broke the unions, who would mine the coal? Illegal immigrants?

Alaska is deliriously rich with oil. Sarah Palin already has the oil companies paying the state for the right to work there. Without protected shipping lanes, how will this oil be transported? Or do you foresee Alaska with all of it's wealth creating a Navy too?

Farmland? What farmland? Without the farm subsidies provided by the Federal government, most farmers would go out of business.

Those Eastern seaboard conservatives are splitting in droves and leaving the Obamites to pay for everything.

I predict mass starvation.

LOL

You say lazy, underachieving entitlement types, and I say slugs.

But hey, let's not split hairs!

LOL

Yeah, but think it through. All the parasites would leave the red states for the blue, what with their generous entitlements, leaving behind much leaner states with people willing to work and pay taxes. Ever think of that?

They'll have to apply for immigration, and get in line, just like every other foreigner.

they'll run across you unguarded boarder like cockroaches and you can't call them illegals, it's politically incorrect. get out your checkbook and get them a house, some food, a hospital, a doctor and a prison.. I love it.

Those 'blue states' instantly double their freeloaders.

Works for me!

It's happening right now. in the usa,, that takers have outnumbered the makers, we are on the downhill slide.
