the reasons the families are being separated, is

1) Because there are masses of people from Central America, that made it's way up here, seeking refugee status

2) because the administration did NOT staff the border accordingly to process these refugees, causing days and days and days waiting at the border to cross through legally

3) to taking weeks and even months to obtain a hearing on whether they are accepted as a refugee because of the lack of staffing of judges and prosecutors and the people who do the approvals or denials of refugee status etc.

4) which brings them past the 10 days of being able to keep their kids with them while waiting under the law

5) Because they no longer are catching, and releasing through deportation with whole families together..... now, under zero tolerance they are being charged with misdemeanors before they are being deported (we used to just deport them) and the courts are backed up months, again ....lack of preparation and staffing.....and kids are being taken and shipped 2000 miles away...

the whole thing is a complete failure, so much of a failure, one would have to ask if it was not done intentionally....?

If the administration had simply thought the policy through to fruition and planned for it, the policy of charging every one with a misdemeanor, zero tolerance, might have worked out and no one would have been the wiser....families would have stayed together and been processed before the 10 days.... if they had staffed for it.
