The college degree scam

Even conservative parents fall into the trap of thinking college is some wonderful place where their children will learn valuable skills and acquire great practical life skills.First of all, college aint what it used to be.You can take fluff courses where you get credit for taking classes on lesbianism and Elvis.I agree there are hard science and math courses and degrees that you just can't fake getting a passing grade in.There is no ???on a chemical engineering test that asks,if a tree fallls in the woods and no one is there to hear it,does it actually make a noise. But sadly with all of your psychology, philosophy, communications and marketing courses those ????'s make up the crux of what you have to know to get a degree. That's why marble mouth athletes who can't talk but father 4 kids by the time they enter college take them. The degrees in these courses in my mind are more than worthless. It just proves that you are so stupid that you spent 50K of your parents money to learn something that is useless. They tried giving basic skills tests to these kinds of college students that were given to elementary school students in 1920 and the college kids nearly all failed the tests.Nowadays you get these San Francisco hippies from the 60's running colleges and they want grade inflation where any minority with an ebonics vocabulary can get a huge government grant to attend college and get a degree. At some of the lefty colleges close to me such as Iowa State and UW Madison parents send their daughters out as innocent freshman in September with a good upbringing and by Thanksgiving break they come back home with workers party drab olive clothing on and a significant other of the same gender. These colleges are nothing more than commie meaningless diploma mills. Then to add insult to injury if you are an engineering student obtaining a legitimate degree you have to pay 50% more than you should so all that extra money can let welfare mothers and affirmative action recipients who are unqualified go to college for free.We don't have institutions of higher learning anymore,we have commie lib sespools.I look in the engagement section of my big city newspaper every Sunday and I see disturbing trends.I give grades to the couples as to what their true productivity and contribution to society will be with what they are doing as far as making a living is concerned.Way over half are absolute parasites working at government jobs that shouldn't even exist.I guess alot of them are poverty pimps where they make a living off of the wake of destruction The New Deal and Great Society programs created.Drug councilors, social service agents, clinical psychologists, compulsive gambling councilors, public shool administrators.etc.Then you have these kids who spent 50 k getting a degree in marine biology and they are selling DVD players at Best Buy or delivering Lay's snack chips. Why not pocket the 50 k you will need to pay $1000 a month rent in an inflated commie lib high tax city and go straight from high school graduation to those jobs and skip college.By the time the 6 years are up and the others are getting their BS degrees after screwing and partying for 6 years you can be the manager of the store they are just entry level grunts at.Wise up people and get to the bottom of the scam known as college before you blindly send your kids with bushels of money to them.

University is working quite well thank you very much. My higher education, of which I am almost finished, has already lined me up opportunities in the future. I work to pay my tuition and will have little or no debt leaving university.

My engineering education, I think, has properly suited me for the workfoce and my university has allowed me co-op terms in which I am in the workforce, learning and making money.

A liberalized education I think is important to a certain degree. University is, and always has been, about not only teaching you skills in a certain vocation, but openning students minds to other possibilities beyond their profession. I would remind you that without your "commie lib cesspool", you wouldn't have doctors, engineers, lawyers (okay maybe that isn't so bad), scientists, theologians as well as many other vocations.

University is an essential institution, though not suited for everyone, those who do often find the dividends rewarding in the future.

Here is a crazy idea. Separate paragraphs so we dont have to read one super long block but rather we can focus on each indivivdual comment in its proper and most coherant place.

Great idea! We can live without spelling and punctuation, but paragraphs are helpful.

I just graduated and I feel like I've been taken to the cleaners cause I can't get a job. Meanwhile I have dropout friends making good loot working respectable jobs and starting their families. Not me. I type on messageboards while waiting for callbacks that never come.

Well, maybe you should take the initiative. Rather than waiting for them to call you, call them. Work on organizing youre resume though. go to a place in person if you can. Show some initiative. some of these places get thousands of resumes a day. you need to make yourself stand out. simply sitting at a message board isnt going to get you a job even if you are applying places.

yeah it is kinda funny watching a guy condemning the eduation system and not writing properly. funny and sad.

Well I didn't mean that quite literally, I was tying to demonstrate the futility of my plight...I know to show up in person....and I only wrote "i type in message boards" because I was at the time...
I'm not a moron.

I hate to sound flip here, but if English was the Major and teaching was not the goal, what was?

Not rying to flame, just gain insight.

I took it with a journalism emphasis and did internships at the paper....I was originally a music major....journalism was a b.s. (and i don't mean bachelor in sciences) at my school and I was genuinely interested in english lit....
I want to do research writing or straight journalism....looks like i'm gonna be teachin' the heathens that are "the future" though.....uh (shudder)

ok - I know it is boring, but there is a call for Tech Writers. Soemthing to keep a roof over your head while pursuing other interests/dreams.

Do any political writing? There are plenty of sites out there looking for good clear opinions. it may not be a real job but atleast it could be something you can do while you are waiting and turn into something you can put on a resume.
