It means, "a president who once excited his party regulars, but after repeated screw-ups and enough dunder-headed moves, began to try the patience of even the members of Congress of his own party and one-time loyalists."

Handing over port control to the United Arab Emirates, I'd say, ranks with Clinton's impeachment.

Check out the president's quote! Can anyone say, "not getting the concept"?

Inept as a politician? No doubt about it. Is that a bad thing ?

Yes, Dillo, it is a bad thing, and I personally fear what is down the road, especially from a very ambitious female senator from New York who salivates at the prospect of claiming the title "President of the United States" for herself, and is pretty good at pulling the wool over people's eyes regarding her abilities, especially women voters. I hope to God that the people in the U.S. are smart enough not to trust another Clinton after the calamity of the first one. They should read a few of the books written about Hillary. They will find out she is far worse--and far more ambitious--than Bill ever was.

I agree! GW can afford to flip us the bird, he's not running again. Which is why so many in Congress are abandoning him. He doesn't seem to care, which may be very dangerous down the road if a threat really does loom.

whoever gets elected next will not start huge changes. Its the curse and blessing of a two party system that change is very slow. Even with Hillary
socialism will not make a comeback.

Has anyone gotten the utterly freaky "Billary" photoshop portrait? It combines Bill and Hill into the same presidential poser.

The GOP needs a new "politician". GW's not running against the Clintons. Mehlman needs to find himself a new kid to carry the party flag. Watch the GOP waste 2 years of the presidency positioning themselves for a run in '08.

I agree that they're wasting two valuable years of the presidency looking ahead to keep the Republicans in power. I think George W. wants his Secretary of State to succeed him in the White House, but his seeming willingness to let things slide during his second term may be just greasing the wheels for Hillary to slide in.
