And on the topic of civil rights, do you understand that the 1st Amendment grants the civil right of exercise of one's faith? To stand out of participation is not a hostile act. It is a passive refusal, not an attack. The 9th Amendment says that no one provision or right can extinguish or hamper the right of another. I'm sure if gay graphic artist businesspeople were refusing to print the mandate of Jude 1 on principle, this conversation coming from you would be a hella lot different, wouldn't it?

I mean, you realize what this does to your legal stance? And the stance of the judge? This judge could be disbarred for refusing to abide by Oregon's statute that civil rights must not be violated. Again, the judge doesn't have the liberty to extinguish the 1st Amendment, fine people for exercising it and then gag them so they won't run and tell the world what this judge just did to them....

Do you know that legal case they based the cake case on in Oregon? Do you? Christians were discriminated against and won BIG...even more than in the cake case. How come people like you don't like to talk about that?

No one is denying these business people their right to worship any god of their choice.

Or, your little group of 12 bloggers were doing just great there for awhile making people think gay marriage was super popular, and when your pocket Justices lined up to cut off the conversation, suddenly the 80% of Americans that the polls here (anyway) were showing didn't want or were questioning or suspicious of or were gravely conservative about gay marriage, are a sleeping dragon that just woke up.

I guarantee you who you're hearing from on these boards are not all hard conservatives. Most are in the middle.

The bottom line is, introducing a concept where marriage laughs at either mothers or fathers as "totally unnecessary" is going to resonate in a bad way with anyone who has had a kid with anyone else. Gay marriage personifies "either you (man) or you (woman) are not necessary for a family anymore"..
