The Bursting Point

our society and culture is way too oversexed and way too focused on the individual, not the family or morality.

4 out of 5 insane clerics agree.

Is this the "McCain style ruthless law and order" you were talking about? You're getting scary.

no, i don't necessarily agree with that.

but i am saying that we as a society should be worried when the only instituation that still gets things done is the military. everywhere you go, you see the military being asked to participate or help out, which inevitably leads to the military taking the lead.

i don't like this one bit. i'd rather various institutions studied the military, take what they can from it that works and leaves out the parts that are useless or damaging to civilian efforts.

Actually he seemed positive about the assistance he was getting..
He even mentioned 1 million meals brought in last night.

well good for him. we'll see if what he says and what folks on the ground in ms. say match.

as you've probably noticed, what the politcians say and what the reporters, relief workers and refugees say is a whole nother thing.

like i said, MS will get through this mess w/ few long-term problems. those people are strong and very steeped in traditions that will strengthen their resolve.

not an insane cleric, just a concerned citizen.

a curtailment of freedom is not necessary, but certainly a few shocks to the system might do some good.

sounds like an ego manica journalist.

Steroids in baseball, yes EARTHSHAKING !!!!!!!!!
Fact is, if our nation is shaken at all, its over things like frivolous out of control lawsuits,

or the way Judges supercede the will of the people. We pass proposistions, just to see the judges throw it out.

People fear lawsuits, and feel helpless in running our own country.

Now, those things hit home, I would think there are alot of people who dont even know who Jose Canseco is.

This is the biggest disaster to hit the Counrty, NATO. Of course everything is not going to be peachy..I'll bet any reporter will find a negative to report, no matter how well things are going.

What the kind of shocks are you talking about?

severe tightening of things like divorce laws

certain businesses to be made examples of for utilizing illegal immigration

a president who is willing to paralyze the country to beat down Congress's pork

some of the media thrown in jail for their pro-jihadist/terrorist reporting in Iraq.

severely tax porn.

HA! I'll bet there are even more that can't tell you who their Senator or Congressman is.

edit spelling...

Seems too tyrannical.

bs. Perhaps he once was conservative (I doubt it) but working at Pravda has changed his tune. Pure unadulteratred left wing propaganda..To string together all the things he did was a reach at the very least. "The sour mood builds on itself, the outraged and defensive reaction to one event serving as the emotional groundwork for the next." What the hell sour mood is he refering to? Perhaps only the sour mood of the libs he hangs around in NYC..

"Each institutional failure and sign of helplessness is another blow to national morale". No it isn't Mr. Brooks. It's a further example of the fact that government CANNOT DO EVERYTHING!! It ain't yo mamma and it ain't yo pappa you stupid sap...

"Katrina means that the political culture, already sour and bloody-minded in many quarters, will shift. There will be a reaction. There will be more impatience for something new. There is going to be some sort of big bang as people respond to the cumulative blows of bad events and try to fundamentally change the way things are." Baloney Absolute malarkey. What he wants is socialism like all his ilk. The belief being that somehow if government is big enough (as in controlling everything) and responsive enough (big government and responsive being an oxymoron in MHO), then bad things never happen. B**lsh*t!! When will the libs awaken to the fact that sometimes bad things happen and there isn't a damn thing can be done to stop it.

"All we can be sure of is that the political culture is about to undergo some big change." Wrong you can be sure of nothing in response to this. What happened in NO was the result of disbelief (I know I lived there) among it's populace that the inevitable could happen. (Ponchatrain levee failure) And utter and complete incompetence on the local and state level. This WILL be borne out in the upcoming investigations. Mr. Brooks has become a reactionary liberal like all who write for the NYT. Thank God Almighty they do not speak for all or even the wisest among us.

She'll never win.

Tell me more about why you like McCain?

(sorry for late response, I didn't notice this)

I'm not a big fan of McCain. I didn't like how he betrayed the nuclear option and crossed over to the Dem side. That was about my final straw with him.

I'd rather see someone like Condi, or Rudy even. I don't know enough about George Allen to judge, Milt Romney seems alright. I like Sam Brownback a whole lot, but this country just wouldn't vote for him across the board, unless the dems nominated a nutso like dean ( and i used to think differently of dean but he has proven me wrong over and over again)
