As President, you can't just keep sending more troops when the Generals ask you....ask LBJ

Obama can afford to dump more troops into Afghanistan for the next two years and hope for some stability. By 2011 he needs to get the hell out or it will cost him the election

well gosh, yurt....what has happened since Obama ran for office that might change the dynamic in Afghanistan and cause a reevaluation of our strategy to be a wise idea?

Do you think that the apparently fraudulent election that they just held and the reports that that election has significantly diminished the support that the Karzai government receives from the Afghan peop[le might be such a change? Or are you going to expect Obama to do in Afghanistan what America did in Vietnam when it was shown that the Diem government was corrupt and did not represent the people?

Oh, it's far worse than that friend...

Reason dictates that where someone doesn't know what to do... they turn to those who are expert in such matters.

Your own post states what the experts are calling for... the reaction is one which denotes someone of a differing opinion.

Ask yourself... "IF someone of nefarious ends was to find the power of the US Presidency, when the US was at war... what would you expect from such an individual?

Would you expect that they'd declare themselves against the US prevailing? Would you expect that they'd surrender?

Or would you expect such a person to hesitate... to waffle... to ignore sound advice of his expert advising specialists? Such would necessarily need to present itself as being 'cautious' or diplomatic... ANYTHING but subversive...

We've a Fox in our Presidential Grandmas house... friend... and I frankly don't see that there's much to be done about it at this point; except to wait and watch our would-be Granny for signs of Fox behavior.

I suspect what we're going to eventually find is that Granny has BIG TEETH... and a LONG TAIL... and pointy ears... and will turn out to not be NEARLY as lovin' as ole Granny.

Now I could be wrong... but all I'm askin' is for you and yours to keep an eye on it, with that in mind.
