The Blues

Favorite...performer....song...style.

As a lad I could get Chicago stations on a clear night and would stay up all hours of the night listening to the Blues. In the early 60's I started listening to British blues. John Mayall where I first discovered Clapton along with Page. Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac was among my favorites as well.

Billie Holiday is in my top 5 performers. To many songs to pinpoint one.

"Train to Nowhere" Savoy Brown is a fine Lp with Chris Youlden on vocals. I enjoy Howlin Wolf 's London Sessions. If you like the Blues you'll need to listen to EC's From The Cradle. Mike Bloomfield is a fine performer as well.

chicago electric blues

Muddy Waters.
John Lee Hooker
Buddy Guy.

I personally can't stand it when stiff british white guys try to pass themselves off as bluesmen. John Mayall and Eric Clapton annoy me with that crap.

I love Hooker's The Healer.

Howlin' Wolf, Big Mamma Thorton, LeadBelly, R.L. Burnside, Muddy Waters, Lightnin' Hopkins, the list could go on and on. I'm more partial to folk blues, but for some more modern blues, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Delbert McClinton, and of course Eric Clapton.
I've got one cd with Howlin' Wolf and Clapton playing together, it's awesome.
I saw SRV in a small venue with less than 2000 people, he was a wizard on the guitar.

No one mentioned one of my favs, Son House. I love Albert King, too.

Of course, my fiancee does a superb cover of Death Letter as well.

First time I heard this song was by the JD Blues Band. I have always loved it. This is the only version I could find on youtube.
